アジア地域使用済燃料リサイクルセンター(ARRC)の必要性について

エネルギー需要が格段と増大してきているアジア・太平洋地域においては、地球温暖化の観点から、温暖化ガスを排出しない原子力発電所の増設が見込まれている。これらの原子力発電所から発生する使用済燃料は、放射性廃棄物を低減するために、再処理し、MOX燃料に加工することが望ましく、また、国際的な枠組みのもとに構築されるARRCによって、将来の核燃料サイクルが形成されることが望ましい。

Energy demand is increasing rapidly in the Asian-Pacific region. From the viewpoint of preventing global warming, countries in the region are expected to introduce more nuclear power plants (NPPs) which do not emit green house gases. The spent fuels from the NPPs should be reprocessed and fabricated into MOX fuel to decrease the amounts of radioactive wastes and future fuel recycling should be supported in the ARRC under the international regulation.
