Confirmation of FBR Monju systems and components integrity toward restart after long-term shut down

The sodium leak accident in a secondary main cooling system of prototype fast breeder reactor Monju was occurred on December 8th in 1995, and the Monju has shut down for 14 years since that. The confirmation of systems and components integrity toward restart of Monju was planned and started in 2006. The plan consists of inspection of components including repair, renewal and improvement and systems performance tests. The integrity confirmation was completed in the December 2009 for the systems and components which are needed core performance test. Monju restarted on May 6th 2010 after the confirmation of restart readiness.
