Emotional labor in library service

Emotional labor, the projection of certain emotions during the context of job performance, is an important source in many services, including libraries. This article introduces a brief overview of relationships with emotional labor in a library service. Firstly, a definition and the characteristic of emotional labor was reviewed. Secondly, the relationship between library services and emotional labor was described, especially in relation to the case of yearly academic library changes. Finally, the positive and negative effects of attempting to change ones emotions to be appropriate for any given situation was described; emotional labor has great potential for job satisfaction, as well as burnout.
