Functional analysis of unknown genes conserved among almost all living organisms in ${it Deinococcus radiodurans}$

Onodera, Takefumi; Kitahara, Kazumasa*; Nakamura, Akira*; Sato, Katsuya; Ota, Toshihiro*; Narumi, Issei

${it O}$-sialoglycoprotein endopeptidase (Gcp) gene has been annotated with, such as ${it Saccharomyces cerevisiae}$ and ${it E. coli}$ are classified as essential genes. However, in ${it Thermus thermophilus}$ and ${it Synechocystis}$ sp. PCC6803, it is not essential. As its function, ${it gcp}$ ortholog (${it qri7}$) mutants in ${it S. cerevisiae}$ mitochondrial DNA are the loss of genomic DNA. In ${it T. thermophilus}$, ${it gcp}$ ortholog disruptant was reported that it growth was suppressed under high salt concentration. Mutual relationships between organisms on the role of gcp ortholog has not been found. The study, we performed a genetic analysis of functional roles in ${it D. rdiodurans}$ Gcp ortholog encoding (${it DrygjD}$), YeaZ ortholog (${it DryeaZ}$), and Gcp ortholog encoding (${it TtygjD}$), YeaZ ortholog (${it TtyeaZ}$) in ${it Thermus thermophilus}$
