LDV measurements in a 90$$^{circ}$$ elbow were examined on inflow from a long/short pipe and swirl generator, modeling a 1/10 scale hot-leg piping of a Japanese sodium-cooled fast breeder reactor. Flow distribution when ${it Re}$ = 320000 shows short upstream pipe induces a flow separation downstream and weakens the Prandtl's secondary flow of the first kind. This suppresses the kinetic energy transport within the pipe wall of the elbow. The swirl generator generates swirling inflow with the non-dimensional angular momentum of 0.12. The circumferential velocity distribution formed a shape like Rankin's combined vortex in the elbow inlet. Also observed is an accelerated axial velocity at the vortex center, whose distribution is like that of non-swirl inflow. Frequency analyses show the Strouhal number by vortex from the boundary layer at the inner side became 0.5, except for 0.6 in the long pipe case. This might be related with the boundary layer width and the local flow velocity.
