Inelastic neutron scattering study of phonon anomalies in La$$_{1.5}$$Sr$$_{0.5}$$NiO$$_{4}$$

La$$_{1.5}$$Sr$$_{0.5}$$NiO$$_{4}$$におけるフォノン異常の非弾性中性子散乱による研究

We studied spin and lattice dynamics in this highly hole-doped region of $$R_{2-x}$$Sr$$_{x}$$NiO$$_{4}$$ to investigate how they are modified compared with the lower hole-concentration region. We performed inelastic neutron scattering experiments on La$$_{1.5}$$Sr$$_{0.5}$$NiO$$_{4}$$ and Pr$$_{1.3}$$Sr$$_{0.7}$$NiO$$_{4}$$ on the chopper-type neutron spectrometer 4SEASONS at J-PARC. We observed magnetic excitations below $$sim$$60 meV for both compounds, which are consistent with a previous study on La$$_{1.5}$$Sr$$_{0.5}$$NiO$$_{4}$$. Furthermore, we observed softening of a phonon mode, which is similar to the one observed in a nickelate with a much lower hole concentration, La$$_{1.69}$$Sr$$_{0.31}$$NiO$$_{4}$$. We will show the details of data and discussions on the roles of holes in the presentation.
