The plant root has various strategies for efficient acquisition of nutrients from the surrounding soil. In particular, secretion of organic substances to the soil is one of the most typical functions in a root system. In this study, we developed a new-type rhizobox which can separate the soil from the plant roots for imaging and quantitative analysis of the dynamic image data on secretion ability in different positions in the root system. As a result, the recently-assimilated carbon delivered into the lateral roots of soybean(${it Glycine max}$ [L.] Merr. cv. Jack) and secreted to the soil was estimated to be larger than that through the main root. This indicated the secretions are differentially regulated by various positions of the soybean root.
