Radiological situations after the Fukushima accident and arrangements for preparing long-term recovery operations

福島事故後の放射線状況と長期復旧作業の準備に向けた整備

本間 俊充

Homma, Toshimitsu

During the transition process the characterization of the exposure situation progressively enabled the implementation of long term protective actions, which included establishment of detailed environmental monitoring plans, long-term health surveillance, formalization of the long-term management of radioactive waste, protection of emergency workers and helpers, and the establishment of long-term plans for decontamination. The enactment of the Act on special measures concerning the handling of environmental pollution by radioactive materials discharged by the NPS accident facilitated the transition from the emergency exposure situation to the existing exposure situation phase to long term recovery operations. The rearrangement of the protective actions was made in April 2012. This presentation will examine the process of the transition from the emergency phase, preparations for long term recovery operations, and the resumption of normal social and economic activity.
