Radial dose has been employed in the treatment planning system for heavy particle cancer therapy in order to estimate the cell survival after the exposure to a heavy particle. However, there are no studies involving the detailed examination of the physical phenomena that occur near the trajectory of a heavy particle before ours. Here, we study the projectile charge ($$q$$) effect on radial dose. For $$E_{hp}$$ = 3 MeV/u, we may be able to treat only $$q$$ = 6 for the simulation of radial dose because the mean projectile charge state ($$q_{mean}$$) is about 5.8, where $$E_{hp}$$ is the energy of a heavy particle. However, $$q_{mean}$$ becomes about 5.0 at $$E_{hp}$$ = 1 MeV/u, then, we must consider $$q$$ effect. We will show the radial dose of heavy particles with $$E_{hp}$$ = 1 and 2 MeV/u using $$q_{mean}$$ in this presentation.
