This presentation shows present status of a JT-60SA Thomson scattering diagnostic. Two collection optics for the core and edge measurements have been designed. Optimizing Ernostar lens in a limited space enable measuring electron temperature for a wide dynamic range (0.1 - 30 keV). For the edge measurements, good radial spatial resolution ($$sim$$10 mm) can be achieved using modified Petval lens. Two additional mirrors are installed in the middle space of the lens system to satisfy the design space limited by a port-plug. A large shutter system will be utilized in front of the vacuum window to suppress adhesion of impurities. Stainless steel wires are employed to move the shutter plate (rectangular shape, 500 mm $$times$$ 300 mm) vertically. An in-situ calibration method using a double-pass laser system has been tested to cope with transmissivity (reflectivity) degradation in the refractive components in TST-2 and LHD. The results indicate the method can be applicable in JT-60SA.
