Laser Raman spectroscopic studies on isoploymolybdate(VI) in a highly acidic solution

The structures of isoploymolybdate(VI) were investigated by using laser Raman spectroscopy. The assignment of the Raman spectra showed presence of the [Mo$$_{36}$$O$$_{112}$$(H$$_{2}$$O)$$_{16}$$]$$^{8-}$$ in the 0.2 M HNO$$_{3}$$ and the [Mo$$_{2}$$O$$_{5}$$(H$$_{2}$$O)]$$^{2+}$$ in the 1.0 M HNO$$_{3}$$. To extract the spectrum of the intermediate species, we applied chemometrics analysis to a series of the observed spectra. The analysis revealed presence of one intermediate [Mo(VI)$$_{m}$$O$$_{y}$$]$$^{p}$$ species in the 0.5 M HNO$$_{3}$$. The intermediate species were assigned to [Mo$$_{18}$$O$$_{56}$$(H$$_{2}$$O)$$_{8}$$]$$^{4-}$$ with the aid of X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
