The cross-sectional AES observations showed that the thickness of the corrosion product layer formed on A3003 decreases with increases in the Zn
concentration of the model fresh water. A cross-sectional AES point analysis suggested that the corrosion products formed on the A3003 in the Zn
containing model fresh water (Zn
0.1 mM) have a multi-layer structure, and that the inner of Zn-rich layer would have high corrosion protective properties.

Proceedings of 15th International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics (NURETH-15) (USB Flash Drive), 13 Pages, 2013/05
The development of flow-induced vibration evaluation methodology has reached a milestone that separate-effect experimental data under a high Reynolds number regime including swirl and deflected inflow conditions are available for the validation of the methodology. On the other hand, technical standards are desirable to be documented for designers of sodium-cooled fast reactors. From such a background, the documentation of a flow-induced vibration design guideline has been made for the hot-leg piping of Japan sodium-cooled fast reactor. This paper describes the design guideline of the flow-induced vibration evaluation methodology, which has been informed from main separate-effect experiments, as well as supplemental interpretation for the guideline.

As a part of development of diamond energy spectrometers using the C(n,

Be reaction for DT plasma ion temperature measurement, response functions measurement of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) single crystal diamonds for alpha particles and 14 MeV neutrons were carried out. One diamond sample was synthesized by the national institute of advanced industrial science and technology (AIST) aiming at a large size and high-quality substrate for electric device with higher methane concentration of 10%. This diamond crystal was chosen according to intensity of free exciton recombination luminescence. In addition, a CVD single crystal diamond, categorized in "detector grade" synthesized by Element 6 Inc. was evaluated.Response function measurement of 14 MeV neutrons were carried out at the Fusion Neutronic Source facility of Japan Atomic Energy Agency. Be reaction were obtained by the two CVD diamond single crystals. In general, energy spectrometer grade CVD diamond single crystals are grown using lower methane concentration, i.e., 1%. However, this results revealed that even higher methane concentration of 10% can grow energy spectrometer grade CVD diamond single crystals.

Due to short half-lives less than 10 s and extremely low production rates, transactinide elements heavier than seaborgium (Sg) are produced on an atom per hour scale. Therefore, a continuous rapid chemistry assembly is required to study aqueous-phase chemistry of these heaviest elements. In the present study, we started developments of a continuous chemistry assembly. Our first attempt was made in on-line experiments with Mo and W, lighter homologs of Sg, to optimize a chemistry assembly consisting of a newly developed membrane degasser as an interface between gas-jet and aqueous phase, a flow electrolytic column apparatus utilized to control oxidation states of Mo and W ions, and the continuous liquid-liquid extraction apparatus of SISAK for separation. In the conference, present status of the developments will be presented.

The effects of metal cations on corrosion of A3003 aluminum alloy in model fresh water were investigated by electrochemical techniques and immersion tests. The electrochemical and immersion results showed that hardness of metal cation, X is not suitable as a corrosion indicator of A3003. A novel corrosion indicator is proposed, and it is shown that the novel indicator can estimate the corrosion rate of A3003 in fresh water.

Neutron Scattering study has been carried out in order to reveal the magnetic structure of the antiferromagnet HoPd
, which shows giant magnetocaloric effect. We observed short rage magnetic order at k=0.18, 0.18, 0.18 above the antiferromagnetic transition temperature
. Tb
Pd
also showed magnetic short range correlation above the temperature higher than 2
