From this observation, Fermi surfaces of this compound were determined to be cylinders elongated along the c-direction, in consistent with theoretical expectation. However, the extremely large cyclotron effective masses ranging 32 to 57 m, in consistent with the electronic specific heat, far exceed calculated values.

We review key experimental and theoretical progress which has been achieved in different laboratories. UTe has been expected to be close to a ferromagnetic instability, showing many similarities to the U-based ferromagnetic superconductors, URhGe and UCoGe. The competition between different types of magnetic interactions and the duality between the local and itinerant character of the 5 f Uranium electrons, as well as the shift of the U valence appear as key parameters in the rich phase diagrams discovered recently under extreme conditions like low temperature, high magnetic field, and pressure. We discuss macroscopic and microscopic experiments at low temperature to clarify the normal phase properties at ambient pressure for field applied along the three axis of this orthorhombic structure.

At the wave-vector = (0, 0.57, 0), where the normal state antiferromagnetic correlations are peaked, a modification of the excitation spectrum is evidenced, on crossing the superconducting transition, with a reduction of the relaxation rate together with the development of an inelastic peak at 1 meV. The low dimensional nature and the a-axis polarization of the fluctuations, that characterise the normal state, are essentially maintained below Tsc. The high ratio of 7.2 contrasts with the most common behaviour in heavy fermion superconductors.

We confirm the presence of antiferromagnetic fluctuations with the incommensurate wave-vector = (0, 0.57, 0). A quasielastic signal is found, whose momentum-transfer dependence is compatible with fluctuations of magnetic moments , with a sine-wave modulation of wave-vector and in-phase moments on the nearest U atoms. Low dimensionality of the magnetic fluctuations, consequence of the ladder structure, is indicated by weak correlations along the direction . These results constitute constraints for models of magnetically-mediated superconductivity in UTe.

Recently, we succeeded to grow a high quality single crystal of UCoAl by the Czochralski pulling method and performed the magnetic measurements. We present the magnetic phase diagram of UCoAl in detail.

被引用回数:9 パーセンタイル:39.24(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)URuSiの隠れた秩序転移温度T、及び反強磁性秩序Tの一軸圧力依存性について実験を行った。高品質の単結晶224mmを用いた。隠れた秩序及び反強磁性秩序転移を検出するため、ストリングゲージを用いて熱膨張係数を測定した。一軸圧は、Heガスを用いて低温で連続的に圧力を変化できるシステムを用いて[100]と[110]方向、0.6GPaまでの測定を行った。静水圧下では、Tは0.5GPa程度から現れるが、[100]方向一軸圧では、0.25GPa程度から現れることがわかった。またも上昇している。これは中性子散乱の結果と整合している。一方、[110]の場合、0.6GPaまでTは観測できなかった。Tの[100]方向と[110]方向による違いは、U-U間の結合距離で整理できることがわかった。また、/に対するEhrenfestの式に基づく考察により、隠れた秩序相は、小さい一軸圧力により状態が敏感に変化することが示唆された。

We focus on experimental results of URhGe and UCoGe in which the superconductivity occurs already at ambient pressure. The huge upper critical field on UCoGe for the field along the hard magnetization axis (-axis) is confirmed by the AC susceptibility measurements by the fine tuning of field angle. Contrary to the huge along the hard-magnetization axis, along the easy-magnetization axis (-axis) is relatively small in value. However, the initial slope of , namely / (0) both in UCoGe and in URhGe indicates the large value, which can be explained by the magnetic domain effect detected in the magnetization measurements. The specific heat measurements using a high quality single crystal of UCoGe demonstrate the bulk superconductivity, which is extended under magnetic field for the field along -axis.

被引用回数:24 パーセンタイル:73.76(Physics, Multidisciplinary)We performed the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) experiments of the low-carrier heavy-fermion compound URuSi at high fields up to 34T and at low temperatures down to 30 mK. All main SdH branches named and and were observed for all the measured field-directions, indicating that they are attributed to the closed Fermi surfaces with nearly spherical shapes. An anomalous split of branch was detected for the field along the basal plane; the split immediately disappeared by tilting the field to [001] direction, implying a fingerprint of the hidden order state. High-field experiments reveal the complicated field-dependence of the SdH frequencies and the cyclotron masses due to the Zeeman spin-splitting associated with the Fermi surface reconstruction in the hidden order state with small carrier numbers. A new SdH branch named with a large cyclotron mass of 25 was detected at high fields above 23T close to hidden order instabilities.

At low temperature, a moment polarization in UCoGe in a field H b of around 50T leads to well-defined anomalies in both magnetization and magnetoresistivity. These anomalies vanish in temperatures higher than 30-40 K, where maxima in the magnetic susceptibility and the field-induced variation of the magnetoresistivity are found. A comparison is made between UCoGe and URhGe, where a moment reorientation in a magnetic field H b of 12T leads to field-induced reentrant superconductivity.

We discuss a possible scenario concerning the distribution of related with the fact that the hidden order phase is very sensitive to the pressure inhomogeneity.

At ambient pressure, the 1st order metamagnetic transition at 0.7T from the paramagnetic ground state to the field-induced ferromagnetic state changes to a crossover at finite temperature 11K. With increasing pressure, linearly increases, while decreases and is suppressed at the quantum critical endpoint (QCEP). We compare our results on UCoAl with those of UGe and SrRuO.
