This compound exhibits Kondo lattice coherence and helical antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering at ambient pressure, similar to the well-studied CeRhIn
. Our measurements reveal that CeVGe
undergoes a magnetic transition from an incommensurate (ICM) AFM state to an up-up-down-down commensurate (CM) AFM structure, followed by a transition to a novel phase at higher fields. A quantum phase transition occurs around 21.3 T. This rich magnetic field phase diagram closely resembles that of CeRhIn
. Furthermore, angle-dependent magnetoresistance measurements reveal that all transitions in CeVGe
occur from the field component along the ab plane. These findings highlight the intricate interplay among exchange interactions, crystal field effects, ground state properties, and crystalline symmetries.

Co@Pt-SAC demonstrates an exceptional mass and specific activities 1 order of magnitude higher than those of commercial Pt/C. They are durable throughout 50000 cycles, showing only a 10 mV decay in halfwave potential. The superior durability is attributed to the shielding effect of the Pt-SAC coating, which significantly mitigates the dissolution of Pt
Co cores.

The contributions from different deformation mechanisms to the yield strength and strain hardening have been estimated. The athermal contributions to the yield strength were 183 MPa at all temperatures, while the Peierls stress increased significantly at low temperatures (from 148 MPa at room temperature to 493 MPa at 25 K). Dislocations contributed to
94% strain hardening at room temperature. Although the dislocation strengthening remained the major hardening mechanism at very low temperatures, the planar faults contribution increased steadily from 6% at room temperature to 28% at 25 K.

This paper discusses crack formation in one-side oxidized Zircaloy-4 cladding with LOCA one-side oxidation quench experimental data. The experimental data suggest that the order of cracks formed in cladding during LOCA quench conditions should be, first in the alpha-Zr(O) layer, and then in the oxide, finally in the prior-beta layer when the fracture of cladding occurs. Both the experimental data and RANNS computation suggest that the formation of crack in the oxide could be related to the heat capacity inside the cladding and off-center pellets during quench.

This paper first summarizes equations regarding the oxygen-dissolved metallic Zircaloy-4 layer (ODMZ). These equations have been added to the updated RANNS code, which is validated using LOCA quench experimental data. The update RANNS code is then used to examine the influence of ODMZ and the oxide layer on its axial load under LOCA quench conditions. The results suggest that the contribution of both the ODMZ and the oxide layer to the axial load increase with oxidation time, and the latter increases more in a fixed length of oxidation time. This study shows the importance and necessity of considering the effect of the ODMZ when computing the axial load on cladding in LOCA quench conditions.

The cause of a load spike which is sometimes observed at the time of quench in one-sided oxidation Loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) quench experiments was investigated. The experimental results implied that it could be related to the pressure fluctuation occurred in the experimental system during the experiment, and two solutions were proposed and verified.
