Distribution of radiocesium existing on the waterbed such as lake or pond was concerned about at the present that passed for two years by an accident. Here, the direct measurement technique of the radiocesium concentration (in-situ measurement technique) was developed. This method was used an plastic scintillation detector (p-Scanner). This detector carried out quick measurement of a large area. In addition, the count-rate of p-Scanner was converted to the radiocesium concentration (Ba/kg-wet) by comparative measurement of
-ray spectrometer. We applied the technique to the agricultural pond in Fukushima and made a map of distribution of radiocesium concentration.

m-thick Si-DSD and four layers of 750-
m-thick CdTe-DSDs all of which have common electrode configuration segmented into 128 strips on each side with pitches of 250
m. In order to realize high angular resolution and to reduce size of the detector system, a stack of DSDs with short stack pitches of 4 mm is utilized to make the camera. Taking advantage of the excellent energy and position resolutions of the semiconductor devices, the camera achieves high angular resolutions of 4.5 degrees at 356 keV and 3.5 degrees at 662 keV. To obtain such high resolutions together with an acceptable detection efficiency, we demonstrate data reduction methods including energy calibration using Compton scattering continuum and depth sensing in the CdTe-DSD. We also discuss imaging capability of the camera and show simultaneous multi-energy imaging.

In addition to hotspot imaging already provided by commercial imaging systems, the identification of the variety of radioisotopes is realized thanks to the good energy resolution given by the semiconductor detectors. Three radioisotopes of
Ba (356 keV),
Na (511 keV) and
Cs (662 keV) were individually imaged by applying event selection in the energy window and the
-ray images was correctly overlapped by an optical picture. The detection efficiency of 1.68

(effective area: 1.7

) and angular resolution of 3.8
were obtained by stacking five detector modules for 662 keV
-ray. The higher detection efficiency required in a specific use can be achieved by stacking more detector modules.

However, it is possibility that carbon based materials would be used at high heat load components such as limiter. To predict the tritium retention in tungsten coating, it is essential to investigate the effects of carbon impurity on deuterium retention in tungsten coating. In this study, effects of carbon impurity on deuterium retention in the tungsten coating exposed to JT-60U divertor plasmas were investigated. Deuterium was trapped by carbon which was implanted and accumulated in the tungsten coating during the plasma discharge. D/C ration of 0.04-0.08 in the tungsten coating was reached to 1/2-1/4 compared to T/C ration in carbon co-deposition layer. Therefore, simultaneous use of carbon armor materials and tungsten coating would enhance tritium retention in tungsten coating.

Noble gas isotopes in three rocky grains from Itokawa have been determined. High concentrations of solar He, Ne, and Ar, as high as those in lunar soils, are released at variable temperatures from each sample. The isotopic compositions are essentially identical to those of solar wind but distinguishable in He relative abundance. These noble gas characteristics can be explained by repeated implantation and preferential loss of solar He by removal of weathered He-rich rim on the grain surface through friction among regolith grains on Itokawa. Residence time of regolith materials on Itokawa is alculated to be shorter than 10 Myr, suggesting that regolith materials of small asteroids would escape easily to space.

The Compact ERL (cERL) project is advanced in Japan. Its aim is to demonstrate the circulation of 100 mA electron beams with energy of 35-200 MeV. Superconducting cavities are key components for realizing ERL and used for injector part and main linac part. Critical issue for the injector part is the development of input power coupler. Prototype input couplers were fabricated and high power test was performed. Cooling ability of HOM coupler is also important for CW operation of cavity. At main linac part, HOM damped 9-cell cavities are applied to avoid BBU instabilities. Prototypes were fabricated for the cavity, the input coupler and the HOM absorber. Their performance was investigated. For both parts, cryomodules are under construction and will be completed in 2012.

The construction of main part of the spectrometer has been completed in spring of 2009. Soon after that, we have started the commissioning work on AMATERAS. The performance of AMATERAS has been examined by test experiments in the course of commissioning. In parallel to these works, we have started the user program on AMATERAS from December 2009 and we are getting scientific results from our spectrometer. In this presentation, we will report the current status of AMATERAS including the results of performance tests and some of examples of scientific outputs.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

Significant differences between heliotron and tokamak plasmas are observed. The location of the ITB moves outward during the ITB formation regardless of the sign of magnetic shear in JT-60U and the ITB becomes more localized in the plasma with negative magnetic shear. In LHD, the low Te/Ti ratio (
1) of the target plasma for the high power heating is found to be necessary condition to achieve the ITB plasma and the ITB location tends to expand outward or inward depending on the condition of the target plasmas. Associated with the formation of ITB, the carbon density tends to be peaked due to inward convection in JT-60U, while the carbon density becomes hollow due to outward convection in LHD. The outward convection observed in LHD contradicts the prediction by neoclassical theory.
