During the decades after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) accident, ambient dose rates have markedly decreased when compared to those at the early state of the accident. Government projects have been continuously conducted by surveying the ambient dose rate and radiocesium distributions. Airborne surveys using crewed helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are the best methods for obtaining an overall picture of the distribution. However, ground-based surveys are required for accurate measurements near the population. The differences between these methods include the knowledge of the post depositional behavior of radionuclides in land use. The survey results form the basis for policy decisions such as lifting evacuation zones, decontamination, and other countermeasures. These surveys contain crucial findings regarding post-accident responses. This paper reviews the survey methods of government projects and current situation around the FDNPS. The visualization methods and databases of ambient dose rates are also reviewed to provide information to the population.

First, mobile gamma-ray spectrometry using backpack survey platform was conducted to assess the distribution of dose rate around specific three survey sites. The carborne survey using gamma-ray spectrometers, as loading inside a vehicle, was successfully conducted to compare measured dose rates in routes from site to site and verify evaluation methods including the attenuation correction.

Six survey sites, including two evacuation zones around the FDNPP, were selected for ground-based gamma-ray spectrometry using HPGe (high purity Ge) and LaBr(Ce) detectors to assess the radioactive cesium deposition in the ground. The diverse levels of radioactivity of Cs were then distributed to six survey sites from 30 to 3000 kBq m in the measurement period of October 2018. A method to directly calculate the depth profile using in situ measurement was introduced so as to have representation over a wide area, and the results were successfully compared with those of sample analysis at one point in the site.

We have developed measurement and analysis techniques in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. To begin with, time-division depth profiles of gate stacked film interfaces have been achieved by NAP-HARPES (Near Ambient Pressure Hard X-ray Angle-Resolved Photo Emission Spectroscopy) data. We then have promoted our methods to quickly perform peak fittings and depth profiling from time-division ARPES data, which enables us to realize 4D-XPS analysis. It is found that the traditional maximum entropy method (MEM) combined with Jackknife averaging of sparse modeling in NAP-HARPES data is effective to perform dynamic measurement of depth profiles with high precision.

Information of snow depth is important to improve the airborne radiation measurement in the winter. The snow depth is enable to estimate by the aerial photograph which is obtained at the same time with the radiation measurement before and after the snowfall. We attempted optimization parameters which used to make a Digital Surface Model (DSM) using Structure from Motion (SfM) method for estimation of the snow depth. As a result, to enable to measure precisely the snow depth was indicated. However, the estimated snow depth in the forest area was relatively not so accurate because fallen leaves and a tree move were prevented to measure DSM precisely.

In the Tokyo Electric Power Co.,Inc. the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station, management of the contaminated water becomes the social problem, and the situation that severe correspondence is necessary continues to prevent an outflow to the ocean. Plastic scintillation fiber (PSF) can apply as technique to direct measure the concentration of radioactive material in the water at a tank and drainage. In this paper, the results of fundamental test was summarized to apply for monitoring of leakage to the tank and monitoring of drainage in the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station.

The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011, generated a series of large tsunami waves that caused serious damage to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, following which a large amount of radioactive material was discharged from the nuclear power plant into the environment. In JAEA and JAXA, UARMS (Unmanned Airplane Radiation Monitoring System) was developing as collaborative research. Here, we report about an aerial radiation monitoring technology for UARMS.

Distribution of radiocesium existing on the waterbed such as lake or pond was concerned about at the present that passed for two years by an accident. Here, the direct measurement technique of the radiocesium concentration (in-situ measurement technique) was developed. This method was used an plastic scintillation detector (p-Scanner). This detector carried out quick measurement of a large area. In addition, the count-rate of p-Scanner was converted to the radiocesium concentration (Ba/kg-wet) by comparative measurement of -ray spectrometer. We applied the technique to the agricultural pond in Fukushima and made a map of distribution of radiocesium concentration.

H-InvDB, originally developed as an integrated database of the human transcriptome based on extensive annotation of large sets of fulllength cDNA (FLcDNA) clones, now provides annotation for 120 558 human mRNAs extracted from the International Nucleotide Sequence Databases (INSD), in addition to 54 978 human FLcDNAs, in the latest release H-InvDB. We mapped those human transcripts onto the human genome sequences (NCBI build 36.1) and determined 34 699 human gene clusters, which could define 34 057 protein-coding and 642 non-protein-coding loci; 858 transcribed loci overlapped with predicted pseudogenes.
