A maintenance management suitable to nuclear power plants (NPP) at R&D stage was discussed. Objectives of maintenance management of NPP at R&D stage was first clarified. Next, applicability of codes for maintenance management of commercial NPP to NPP at R&D stage was discussed. Then, requirements and consideration for maintenance management of NPP at R&D stage was proposed. Finally, an example that the proposal was applied to setting maintenance program of sodium-cooled fast reactor was presented.

A maintenance management required to nuclear power reactors at the R&D stage was discussed. It is the most important to ensure safety of nuclear power plants by taking account of characteristics of nuclear power reactors at the R&D stage. In addition, it is needed to establish a system of maintenance management technologies suitable for reactor types. In this report, objectives of maintenance management of nuclear power reactors at the R&D stage was clarified. Next, requirements and consideration for maintenance management was discussed according to the objectives. "Codes for maintenance management of nuclear power plants" and "Guides for maintenance management of nuclear power plants" were refereed in the discussion. Then, a draft of codes for maintenance management of nuclear power plants at the R&D stage were newly proposed. Finally, an example that the draft codes were applied to components containing sodium, typical components of sodium-cooled fast reactor, was presented.

Using AP plasma, 1.8-nm-thick films composed of SiNO were obtained in the temperature range from 298 to 773 K. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Rutherford backscattering spectrometry revealed 10% more nitrogen atoms corresponding to the NSi bond in the film using AP plasma than those using RF plasma. In the temperature range, the leakage current densities were not affected by the temperature. Films fabricated at 298 K showed leakage current density of as low as 710A/cm at 5MV/cm. This value was one order of magnitude lower than that using RF plasma.

The max. stress of the flexible pipes for the movable mirror was measuerd to be 60MPa, much less than the allowable stress and agree with the calculation. No degradation on the performance of bearings was obtained for the assumed fluence of ITER. The mock-up of remote steering(RS) launcher was tested and RF radiation of 0.5MW-3sec and 0.2MW-10sec over 0-10 were performed. No degradation was obseved, either. The new launcher which has the capability of wider range rf beam steering and the corrugated square waveguide with four miter bends that yield the dog-legged structure has been designed, based on the test results. It has been fabricating for high power experiments.

Chemical bonding states of silicon nitride films formed by an atmospheric plasma method and a RF plasma method were analyzed by photoemission spectroscopy with synchrotron radiation and compared each other. The SiN/Si(111) interface formed by the RF plasma method consisted of 5 components. On the other hand, the SiN/Si(111) interface formed by the atmospheric plasma method consisted of 4 components. The SiN component is in the interface formed by the RF plasma method.

In this paper, a maintenance management suitable to nuclear power plants (NPP) at R&D stage was studied. NPP at R&D stage have several features different from commercial NPP. A maintenance management for NPP at R&D stage should be conducted by taking account of those features. First, objectives of maintenance management of NPP at R&D stage was clarified. Next, applicability of codes for maintenance management of commercial NPP to NPP at R&D stage was discussed.
