Evolution of stacking faults and -martensite improved the mechanical performance of CoCrNi alloys, and significant strain-induced martensite transformation of DED-SS316L led to superior strength and strain hardening. A magnitude in stress drop was governed by dislocation density, phase type, and lattice defects, irrespective of processing method. FCC {200} notably was influenced recovery behavior after stress drop, and the contribution of strain energy density by serration on tensile toughness was the greatest for HR-CoCrNi.

The AM steels were further aged without solid solution treatment. As the results, the retained austenite was found to be more stable because the chemical composition became homogeneous by aging, and the onset of deformation induced martensitic transformation was delayed.

被引用回数:36 パーセンタイル:99.47(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)In situ neutron diffraction experiments have been performed under loading in cast-wrought (CW) and additively manufactured (AM) equiatomic CoCrNi medium-entropy alloys. The diffraction line profile analysis correlated the faulting-embedded crystal structure to the dislocation density, stacking/twin fault probability, and stacking fault energy as a function of strain. The results showed the initial dislocation density of 1.810 m in CW and 1.310 m in AM. It significantly increased up to 1.310 m- in CW and 1.710 m in AM near fracture. The dislocation density contributed to the flow stress of 470 MPa in CW and 600 MPa in AM, respectively. Meanwhile, the twin fault probability of CW (2.7%) was about two times higher than AM (1.3%) and the stacking fault probability showed the similar tendency. The twinning provided strengthening of 360 MPa in CW and 180 MPa in AM. Such a favorable strengthening via deformation twinning in CW and dislocation slip in AM was attributed to the stacking fault energy. It was estimated as 18.6 mJ/m in CW and 37.5 mJ/m in AM by the strain field of dislocations incorporated model. Dense dislocations, deformation twinning, and atomic-scale stacking structure were examined by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

被引用回数:6 パーセンタイル:55.14(Chemistry, Physical)In this study, the deformation behavior and strengthening contribution of the FCC phase and B2 phase in AlCoCrFeNi eutectic high entropy alloys (HEAs) were investigated using in-situ neutron diffraction. An FCC matrix phase exhibited a slip-dominant deformation scheme, while twinning hardly contributed to deformation. Applied macroscopic stresses were rarely redistributed to the BCC A2 phase dispersed within the B2 phase, whereas the stress contribution of the B2 phase, which was initially lower than that of the FCC phase, increased significantly with an increase in plastic strain; hence, its contribution to tensile deformation became predominant. This study allows us to postulate a target value of each phase by microstructural tunning to achieve the desired properties of multicomponent phase HEAs.

被引用回数:0 パーセンタイル:0.00(Chemistry, Physical)In this study, we manufactured a non-equiatomic (CoNi)CrFeC high-entropy alloy (HEA) consisting of a single-phase face-centered-cubic structure. The non-equiatomic (CoNi)CrFeC HEA revealed a good combination of strength and ductility in mechanical properties compared to the equiatomic CoNiCrFe HEA, due to both stable solid solution and precipitation-strengthened effects. The non-equiatomic stoichiometry resulted in not only a lower electronegativity mismatch, indicating a more stable state of solid solution, but also a higher stacking fault energy (SFE, 50 mJ/m) due to the higher amount of Ni and the lower amount of Cr. This higher SFE led to a more active motion of dislocations relative to mechanical twinning, resulting in severe lattice distortion near the grain boundaries and dislocation entanglement near the twin boundaries.

Exceptional mechanical properties of DED CoCrNi at 210K were achieved by the activities of a multiple deformation scheme that changed from dislocation slip to twinning-induced plasticity followed by transformation-induced plasticity. While SS316L at room temperature has micro-twins, CoCrNi at 210K exhibited nano-twins, resulting from lower stacking fault energy. Moreover, transformed hexagonal close-packed (HCP) phases were found near the face-centered cubic (FCC) {111} grain boundaries, where remarkable stacking faults and severe lattice distortion were measured.

An NMR mechanistic study reveals that silver complexes were formed in the following order: 2Ag 3Ag 5Ag 4Ag. The central hydroxides in 4Ag and 5Ag exhibit exotic physical properties due to the confined environment inside the complex. The size of these silver wheels can be tuned by changing the central anion or extracting/adding one silver atom. This study provides the facile way to synthesize discrete wheel-shaped multinuclear silver complexes and provides valuable insights into the dynamics of the self-assembly process.

Two types of tensile specimens were manufactured: (1) One sample was vertically fabricated with its tensile axis parallel to the z-direction (AM-V), (2) The other sample was horizontally fabricated with its tensile axis perpendicular to the z-direction (AM-H). A commercial 15-5PH stainless steel (CA) was used for comparison. AM steel revealed enhanced yield strength, tensile strength, and uniform elongation over CA, which was mainly due to grain refinement and transformation induced plasticity (TRIP). Different onsets of strain nonlinearity between AM-V and AM-H were closely related to martensitic phase transformation.

A half-life of T = 6.3(8) ms was measured for the new state which was tentatively assigned a spin/parity of (15). The isomeric state decays via the emission of a 309-keV ray with multipolarity. The experimental results are compared to shell model calculations performed using state-of-the-art realistic effective interactions and to the neighbouring nucleus Cd. The comparison with calculations shows that adjustments of the pairing and multipole parts of the effective interaction derived from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential are required in order to describe the properties of nuclei in the region around Sn.

From the -ray analysis, 31 excited states and 69 ray transitions were established in the level scheme of In, and compared with state-of-the-art shell-model calculations. It was found that the decay of Cd is dominated by Gamow teller transitions, but a non-negligible contribution to the decay is also made by first-forbidden transitions. To estimate the contribution of first-forbidden transitions is important for calculations of the -decay half-lives of nuclei in this region.

The new data demonstrate the persistence of shell structure far from stability and have direct implications for the -process calculations. In particular, the new half-lives have a global impact on the calculated -process elemental abundances, and alleviate the underproduction of isotopes just above and below the A=130 peak, which in the past required the introduction of shell structure modifications. Reaction-network calculations based on the new data reinforce the notion that the r-process abundance pattern may result from the freeze-out of a (n,)(,n) equilibrium.

This measurement provided the first experimental information on excited states in this nucleus. The isomer was populated in the projectile fission of a U beam at the RIBF facility at RIKEN. From the measured yields of rays and internal conversion electrons, E3 multipolarity was tentatively assigned to the isomeric transition. A half-life of 3.6(2) ms was determined for this new state which, by comparison with shell-model calculations, was tentatively assigned a spin of (21/2).

The proposed spin and parity configuration is 10, with maximally aligned configuration of two neutron hole. -decay from the long-lived isomer was also observed to populated excited states at high spins in Ag. The small energy difference between the 10 and 7 isomers in Pd was interpreted in the frame of the monopole shift of the 1 neutron orbit. The effects of the monopole interaction on the evolution of single-neutron energies below Sn are discussed in terms of central and tensor forces.

The new state, which was populated both in the beta decay of Cd and after beta-delayed neutron emission from Cd, was identified, at an excitation energy of 1353 keV, as the previously unknown single-hole state with respect to the Sn core. Exploiting this crucial new experimental information, shell-model calculations were performed to study the structure of experimentally inaccessible =82 isotones below Sn. The results evidence a surprising absence of proton subshell closures along the chain of =82 isotones. This finding bears consequences on the evolution of the =82 shell gap along the r-process path.
