The anisotropy in the field direction, previously identified in X-ray diffraction experiments, where a field-induced phase appears along [100] but not along [110], was confirmed in the bulk properties. Combining these experimental results with Landau theory, we infer that the field-induced phase in the [100] direction emerges under an infinitesimally small magnetic field.

We systematically studied the characteristics of the CB-KID to improve spatial resolution down to 10 m in transmission imaging. By analyzing neutron transmission spectra from 1 meV to 500 keV, we identified copper (Cu) and iron (Fe) as major components in commercial nuts and screws. Additionally, we successfully mapped the distribution of the SmSn
compound using selective energy regions of pulsed neutrons and the CB-KID detector. It can reveal transmission spectra across a wide range of energies, from cold-neutron energies (meV) to higher neutron energies (up to 500 keV).

We optimized the design and operating conditions of our superconducting neutron detector to improve spatial resolution. We obtained the best spatial resolution of 10 m when a Gd Siemens star pattern was mounted at close contact with the detector in the cryostat. We compared the effect of a different sample-detector distance on a spatial resolution when the samples were placed either at cryogenic temperature or at room temperature. We found the appearance of clear Bragg dips by the measurements of natural FeS
single crystals and succeeded in mapping the distribution of differently-oriented crystals by choosing several Bragg dips of the FeS
crystals to compose the transmission images.

Si
using polarized and unpolarized neutron diffraction. Previous neutron scattering studies reported that this system possesses a simple AFM structure with a propagation vector, Q= 0, and the ordered magnetic moments aligned along the c-axis. By contrast, our latest resonant X-ray scattering (RXS) experiments have revealed that the magnetic structure is modulated by the charge-density-wave (CDW) order, which emerges in one of the two Pt atomic layers in the unit cell below
320 K. The modulation is characterized by a transverse wave in the c-plane, with the propagation vector of the CDW order, q
= (
0.42, 0, 0). In this study using neutron scattering, we observed that the superlattice reflections specified by q
develop below
, in addition to the magnetic reflections with Q= 0, thereby further confirming the presence of modulation in the AFM structure of this system. From detailed analyses, we revealed that the amplitude of the transverse-wave magnetic modulation is 0.72(2)
/U, which is quantitative information that can not be obtained through RXS experiments. This implies that the CDW drives the ordered magnetic moments to be tilted up to 20
in the AFM state. The observations strongly suggest that the magnetism of UPt
Si
is heavily influenced by the hybridization effects between the
electrons of U and the 5d electrons of Pt.

本委員会では、東京電力ホールディングス株式会社(東電)福島第一原子力発電所(1F)事故後の 核分裂生成物(FP)挙動を予測可能な技術に高めて廃炉作業に貢献することと、1F事故進展事象の把握で得られた情報をソースターム(ST)の予測技術の向上に反映させ、原子炉安全の一層の向上に繋げることを目標とした活動を実施している。この2年間では、これまでの12年間の1F実機調査や1F関連研究で得られた情報を調査し、1F廃炉における燃料デブリやFP挙動の予測、及びST予測精度向上に必要な課題として「FPの量・物質収支と化学形態」「サンプリング目的とデータ活用」「環境への移行経路」を摘出した。今後、これらの課題の解決に向けた道筋の議論を進める。

A delay-line current-biased kinetic inductance detector (CB-KID) is a two-dimensional superconducting sensor with a high temporal resolution and multi-hit capability. Here, it is demonstrated that a delay-line CB-KID with a B neutron conversion layer can be applied to high-spatial-resolution neutron transmission imaging and spectroscopy up to 100 eV. Dip structures are observed in the transmission spectra of YbSn
single crystals, induced by Bragg diffraction and nuclear resonance absorption. The orientation mapping of YbSn
crystals is successfully drawn based on the analysis of observed Bragg dip positions in the transmission spectra.

被引用回数:2 パーセンタイル:43.92(Nuclear Science & Technology)福島事故時に放出された放射性物質量の推定は、原子炉の事故進展や環境影響の評価にとって不可欠である。そこで、ヨウ素,Csに次いで放出量が多いTeについて、単位放出量を想定したメソスケール気象モデル計算で得られた時間ごとの沈着量に基づいて沈着量分布を重み付けする、単位放出回帰推定法を用いて検討した。前回の検討では、この手法の適用性確認に主眼を置き、発生源について暫定的な結果を得ることができた。しかし、その後の検討で、放出があったと思われる期間の一部が放出推定期間から欠落していると、ソースターム計算全体に歪みが生じることが判明した。このため、本研究では、推定期間を延長し、主要な放出を全て含むように再計算を行った。その結果、これまで特定されなかった放出事象が明らかになり、炉内事象との対応も確認できた。また、炉心注水時のZr被覆管完全酸化によるTe放出事象を考慮することにより、土壌汚染マップにおける
Te/
Cs比の地域依存性を説明することができた。さらに、本検討に基づき、WSPEEDI逆計算では予測できなかった3月11日夜,13日,14日早朝にヨウ素とCsの放出が増加した可能性を指摘した。

Gd共鳴ディップを観測することができた。また、
Gdの共鳴ディップを用いてGd選択的イメージングを行ったところ、中性子の波長幅が1pmという限られた範囲で、明確なGd核の元素選択イメージング像を取得することに成功した。

The fact that the CB-KID system could be used to identify features of samples with a wide distribution of sizes and thicknesses is promising for real application of the device for imaging samples of interest to material scientists. Operating the CB-KID at higher temperatures appreciably improved the efficiency for simultaneously identifying the X and Y positions of hotspots. We also compared the detection efficiency with the PHITS simulations. We now plan to improve the detection efficiency by increasing the thickness of the

We demonstrate high temperature operation of CB-KID at 7.9 K with the delayline method. High temperature operation reduces imaging pixel size by suppressing signal propagation velocity. High spatial neutron transmission image for a mixed metal alloy consisting of heavy elements Sm and Sn is successfully constructed. We also examine the capability of element discrimination imaging based on the resonance dip analysis.

Research on the distribution and dynamics of photoassimilates in plants, especially those in fruits, is important for improving food production. Positron emission tomography (PET) and carbon-11 (C) isotope technique are valuable to obtain 3-D images of photoassimilates. For plant experiments, however, it is important to adjust a system to plant's growth environment. General PET devices, even small-animal PET devices, are not suitable for plant studies. This can be solved by using a small OpenPET prototype which is a compact PET device that has an open space in its field of view (FOV). In this work, we upgraded the OpenPET system for the PET study of fruits and successfully realized the 3-D imaging of a photoassimilate labeled with
CO
in a fruit of a strawberry plant.

We examined the precise pattern of a B-dot-array absorber and found the X-direction pitch (Px) = 250.7 um with a scatter of (Hx)= 5.4 um and the Y-direction pitch (Py)= 249.1 um with a scatter of (Hy)= 3.4 um while the
B dot array was fully extended toward the X direction across the detector sensitive area. We consider that this demonstrates detection with good spatial homogeneity and conclude. The transmission-imaging system is suitable for use at pulsed neutron facilities. We also reported a clear transmission image of tiny screws and nuts, and ladybug (insect). We recognize that further efforts to improve the detection efficiency are necessary to make using the detector more practical.

被引用回数:2 パーセンタイル:17.25(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)使用済燃料プール等のシビアアクシデント時ソースタームにおいて重要となるルテニウム(Ru)の燃料からの放出モデルに資するため、核燃料中に析出した合金からのRu蒸発挙動に与えるモリブデン(Mo),パラジウム(Pd),ロジウム(Rh)の影響に着目してMo-Ru-Pd-Rh合金の酸化及び蒸発挙動を熱分析により調べた。Moが先に酸化されることで合金中のRuの酸化及び蒸発は抑制され、Moが全て蒸発した後にRuの酸化及び蒸発が生じることが分かった。さらにそのRuの蒸発速度はRu-Pd-Rh合金におけるRuの活量に支配されることが分かった。

B dot array contain in the stainless-steel mesh. To improve the resolution of neutron images, the characteristics of a superconducting neutron detector have been studied carefully. In this study, we present the dependence of neutron signals in the temperature of detector. We found that when the temperature of a neutron detector is as close as the critical temperature of superconductivity, the intensity of signal increase as a function of temperature. We consider that the ratio of noise and signal is decrease which is very useful to improve the resolution of neutron images.
