Cm reactions were successfully measured by using the gas-filled recoil-ion separator GARIS. Fusion barrier distributions were extracted from these data, and compared with the coupled-channels calculations. It was found that the peak energies of the barrier distributions for the Ca + Pb and Ti + Pb systems coincide with those of the 2n evaporation channel cross sections for the systems, while that of the Ca + Cm is located slightly below the 4n evaporation ones. This results provide us helpful information to predict the optimum beam energy to synthesize superheavy nuclei.

L.) is one of major sources of dietary intake of cadmium (Cd) for the human. However, the reliable technique to reduce substantially rice Cd contamination has not been offered so far. Here, we report the ion-beam irradiated rice mutants that do not nearly accumulate Cd in the grains and the mutant gene responsible for the Cd limitation. We found three mutants in which a favorable low-Cd trait is expressed by the different mutations on the same gene (
), and the transporter encoded by the mutant gene 
had a defective function of root Cd influx. The mutants adapted well in the Cd-polluted paddy fields by exhibiting nearly non-detectable Cd concentrations in their grains in accordance with no adverse economic traits. The DNA marker has been developed to breed new cultivars carrying . Our findings would be useful for greatly reducing the Cd level of paddy rice.

I confirmed a leak of the effluent gas from cylinder part during a load examination after the check of the emergency generator C unit on December 28, 2010 of the facilities check average and confirmed crack in No.8 cylinder liner part. As a result, because it was not performed oil pressure management properly without attaching an oil pressure gauge when I removed cylinder liner about the cause, crack occurred by having been able to write excessive stress for the cylinder liner and reached damage. By a process of this investigation, a fall of the materials strength of some cylinder liner was confirmed, but because a lead ingredient got mixed with materials by a casting process at the time of the production of the cylinder liner, as for this, Widmannst tten graphite occurred, and it became clear that materials strength fell. In addition, I performed inspection by the supersonic wave velocity measurement as technique to distinguish this Widmannst tten graphite easily and confirmed that I was effective.

Large aperture cylindrical beam ducts consisting of alumina ceramics will be used for the first time in the 3GeV-synchrotron of High Intensity Proton Accelerator Facility. It is necessary to evaluate roundness and straightness of ceramic ducts because we have to compensate contact area of the connected beam duct large as well as we have to compensate large enough beam aperture. We developed an apparatus of measuring roundness and straightness, and we completed data analysis method as well as measuring method. Then we are measuring and evaluating roundness and straightness of ceramic beam ducts. Now, we have newly made an ellipse ceramic duct for the 3GeV-synchrotron BM. This duct has ellipse cross-sections to satisfy with larger aperture that the beam dynamics requires. In this conference, we are going to present taken data and findings regarding form accuracy including roundness and straightness of the ellipse ceramic duct.
