For safety assessment of TRU waste disposal, data on sorption data of plutonium on Tuff have been obtained by a static batch-type experiment. Because the repository condition will be reducing and be affected by considerable amount of nitrate in waste, the authors carried out the experiments using Tuff under the reducing (NaSO as added as reductant) and anoxic condition (O1 ppm) and solution of 0 to 0.5 M NaNO. The experimental results suggest that distribution coefficient (Kd) ranges 0.2 to 0.7 m kg in case of L/S=0.1 m kg. Similarly the Kd ranges, 1 to 7 m kg at L/S=1 m kg. However, almost samples of the solution after experiments were plutonium solubility less than detection limit(10mol/dm) of alpha spectrometer. The reason, it is guessed plutonium coprecipitation with calcium hydroxide, because experiments using saturated calcium hydroxide in the liquid.

Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institutes (JNC) has a few thousands of short term visitors to Geological Isolation Basic Research Facility of Tokai works in every year. From the viewpoint of promotion of the visitor's understanding and also smooth communication between researchers and visitors, the explanation of the technical information on geological disposal should be carried out in more easily understandable methods, as well as conventional tour to the engineering-scale test facility (ENTRY). This paper reports on the background information and the appearance of displays, which were installed at ENTRY, to promote public understanding of geological repository concept and the spatial scale. They have been practically used as one of the explanation tools to support visitor's understanding.

The images of repository operation, output data of technical calculations regarding geological disposal were visualized. We can use them practically as one of the useful explanation tools to support visitor's understanding. The visualized materials are attached to this report with the DVD-R media, furthermore, background information of each visualized materials was documented.

There have been a few thousands of short term visitors to Geological Isolation Basic Research Facility of Tokai works in Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institutes in every year. From the viewpomt of promotion of the visitor's understanding and smooth communication between researchers and visitors, the explanation of the technical information on geological disposal should be carried out in a more easily understandable manner, as well as conventional tour to engineering-scale test facility. Here is a sample movie of the tracer transport analysis using the three-dimensional fracture network model attached to this report with the CD-ROM. It has been being practically used as one of the explanation tools to support visitor's understanding.

Quantitative Assessment Radio nuclide Migration Experimental Facility "QUALITY", which was designed to investigate the radionuclide migration behavior under anaerobic conditions, contains atmosphere-controlled glove boxes which are used to obtain data of radionuclide migration in engineered barrier materials and rocks at the laboratory scale. A variety of analytical equipment is available in this facility. This report with audio-visual materials briefs the information regarding the objective, the characteristics, the approaches for research and test in this facility. The materials were prepared with both the VHS tape and the CD-ROM including movie files in mpeg1 format. Here is each copy attached to this report.
