and the muon electric dipole moment (EDM)
at the J-PARC muon facility. The goal of our experiment is to measure
and
using an independent method with a factor of 10 lower muon momentum, and a factor of 20 smaller diameter storage-ring solenoid compared with previous and ongoing muon g-2 experiments with unprecedented quality of the storage magnetic field. Additional significant differences from the present experimental method include a factor of 1000 smaller transverse emittance of the muon beam (reaccelerated thermal muon beam), its efficient vertical injection into the solenoid, and tracking each decay positron from muon decay to obtain its momentum vector. The precision goal for
is a statistical uncertainty of 450 parts per billion (ppb), similar to the present experimental uncertainty, and a systematic uncertainty less than 70 ppb. The goal for EDM is a sensitivity of

In our group, we have developed an Ir-TES and reported an energy resolution of 6.9 eV FWHM at 5.9 keV. In this study, we designed a new TES detector using a superconducting tin (Sn) absorber to detect high energy photons over 100 keV. The Sn absorber is coupled to an Ir/Au superconducting film which is deposited on an ultra-thin SiN membrane (500 nm thick) with a small amount of epoxy post (stycast 2850FT) by handling with a flip-chip bonding machine. The measured energy resolution was 485 eV FWHM at 60 keV and was better than that of HPGe detector.

and examined the Fermi surfaces and band dispersions near the fermi level. Heavily hole-doped electronic states have been observed due to the polar nature of the cleaved surfaces. Nevertheless, we have found that the ARPES spectra basically agree with band dispersions calculated in the local density approximation (LDA) if the bandwidth is reduced by a factor of
2.5 and then the chemical potential is lowered by
70 meV. Comparison with previous ARPES results on LaFePO reveals that the energy positions of the
- and
-derived bands are considerably different between the two materials, which we attribute to the different pnictogen height as predicted by the LDA calculation.

This MEM analysis uses the differences between the structure factors of protium- and deuterium-dissolved crystals. Simulations demonstrate that it not only provides the distribution of hydrogen atoms alone, but also improves the spatial resolution of MEM mapping around hydrogen atoms. Applied to actual diffraction data of protium- and deuterium-dissolved BaSn

First, a thermal fatigue test of a 316FR hollow cylinder with two longitudinal weldments was conducted under the condition of combined constant axial load and cyclic movement of axial temperature distribution, which simulated the loading condition near the free surface of coolant sodium in the main vessel of fast breeder reactors (FBRs). Second, the inelastic analyses were carried out in accordance with the recommended procedure by using the measured results of oscillating temperature distribution. Finally, the results of inelastic analyses were compared with the experimental results and it was validated that the recommended practice gave a conservative result for the deformation and a good estimation of strain range for the fatigue life evaluation.

C. Duration of the ratchet straining was set for a certain number of strain cycles taking the loading condition of fast reactors into account, and the number of cycles for strain accumulation was defined as the ratchet-expired cycle. Fatigue lives decrease as the accumulated strain by ratcheting increases. Fatigue life reduction was negligible when the maximum mean stress was less than 25 MPa, corresponding to an accumulated strain of 2.2 percent. Accumulated strain is limited to 2 percent in the present design guidelines and this strain limit is considered effective to avoid reducing fatigue life by ratcheting. Micro-crack growth behaviors were also investigated in these tests in order to discuss the life reduction mechanisms in ratcheting conditions.

The System Based Code concept intends to optimize margins for nuclear plant component throughout the service period, by offering methodologies to determine appropriate margins corresponding to various technical items, so that a total margin of the component is at a desired level. The authors have shown that this concept can successfully be applied to the design of relatively simple components of nozzles and end-caps. This paper explores the possibility of applying the concept of the System Based Code to more complex components whose design is directly connected to the design of the plant as a whole. As such example, a vessel equivalent to that of a regenerative heat exchanger of light water reactors was postulated. It was concluded that the concept could contribute to optimize the design of actual complicated components to the regions beyond the current codes and standards allow.

Prevention of thermal ratcheting is an important problem for high temperature components of fast breeder reactors that are subjected to cyclic thermal loads. To clarify ratcheting behaviors, structural model tests were planned. Strain measurement is important for understanding the thermal ratcheting phenomenon, however the conventional measurement by strain gauge is difficult at high temperature. Then, Laser speckle strain measurement system using the dual-beam set-up was developed to apply to high temperature structural model tests. This system was applied to the thermal ratcheting tests, which demonstrated the actual operative conditions of reactor vessels. Through comparison with uniaxial test results obtained by extensometers, the laser speckle method was verified. Measured data of structural model tests were utilized to certify the guidelines of inelastic analysis for design, which provide prediction method of strain in components of fast reactor.
