The balance between oxidative stress and antioxidant activity, which is a defense mechanism against oxidative stress, was investigated in the liver and bladder of wild Japanese macaques captured in Fukushima Prefecture. No significant induction of oxidative stress by exposure to environmental radionuclides after the Fukushima nuclear accident was observed, suggesting that the stress defense mechanism of the organism is activated in some organs.

Wildlife within the alert zone have been exposed to low-dose-rate (LDR) radiation for a long and continuous time. In this study, we analysed the morphological characteristics of the testes and in vitro fertilization (IVF) capacity of cryopreserved sperm of raccoons from the ex-evacuation zone of the FDNPP accident. This study revealed that the chronic and LDR radiation exposure associated with the FDNPP accident had no adverse effect on the reproductive characteristics and functions of male raccoons.

Using the dose response curve, external exposure dose for seven wild Japanese macaques captured in Fukushima prefecture were examined. The results suggest that the external exposure dose for the wild Japanese macaques were ranged between 45 mGy to 300 mGy.

O in the corrosion film controls the corrosion rate of carbon steel in oxygen depleted environment.

We have developed a self-consistent integrated modelling of core and SOL/divertor transport. Thereby it enables us to investigate operation scenarios to be compatible with high confinement core plasma and detached divertor plasmas. To integrate a 1.5D core code (TOPICS-IB and TASK) and a 2D divertor code (SONIC), we introduce a new Multiple Program Multiple Data parallel computing system. For an integrated code including Monte-Carlo calculations, this system makes it possible to perform efficient simulations. The predictive simulation studies are carried out for JT-60SA with the integrated code (TOPICS-IB/SONIC) and the characteristics of the divertor heat load after the H-mode transition is clarified. We also discuss about the temporal behavior of divertor characteristics after an ELM crash.

SOL flow patterns have recently been studied by the particle simulations, and the effects of finite-orbit-size of ions are found to be essential for the flow-pattern formation. Based on these simulation results, a new model of the edge plasma flow is developed by introducing the "ion-orbit-induced flow" to the fluid equations. A tokamak plasma is divided into three regions; core region, transition layer and SOL region. The "ion-orbit-induced flow" is modeled by separating untrapped part and trapped part, and by taking account the collision effect and poloidal distribution. The "ion-orbit-induced flow" becomes large at the edge region.

To study SOL flow patterns, we perform simulations with a full particle code, PARASOL. For upper-null divertor configuration with ion drift away from the null point, the flow is directed to inner and outer plates. The stagnation point is located symmetrically at the bottom. On the other hand for lower-null case with ion
drift toward the null point, the flow in outer SOL region has a backward flow pattern. The stagnation point moves below the mid-plane of outer SOL. These simulation results are very similar to experiment. Simulations are carried out by changing the aspect ratio
and by artificially cutting the electric field. It is found that the banana motion of trapped ions is important for the formation of flow pattern in addition to the self-consistent electric field. Trapped-ion effects can be stronger than electric-field effects for standard tokamaks with

Micro-indentation technique was applied to evaluate the mechanical properties of corroded surface layers of Ni-alloy, 316SS, Ti and Ta, which were exposed into the corrosive gaseous environment consisting of HI+I+H
O+H
. The corrosion condition was chosen so as to simulate one of the environments in the thermochemical hydrogen production, IS process, where the degradation due to the corrosion attack by HI and the hydrogen embrittlement is a key issue from the viewpoint of material integrity. The micro-indentation tests using a spherical indenter and the inverse analysis with Kalman filter were performed to quantitatively estimate material constants of corroded surface layer. Ni-alloy exhibited good corrosion resistance and Ta was remarkably influenced by the hydrogen embrittlement.
