In Japan Atomic Energy Agency, in order to solve the problem in the long-term operation of a light water reactor, preparation which does the irradiation experiment of light-water reactor fuel and material was advanced. JMTR stopped after the 165th operation cycle in August 2006, and is advancing renewal of the irradiation facility towards re-operation. The material irradiation test facility was installed from 2008 fiscal year to 2012 fiscal year in JMTR. The material irradiation test facility is used for IASCC study, and that consists of mainly three equipments. This report is described performance operating test of the water environmental control facilities for IASCC study carried out 2013 fiscal year.

In Japan Atomic Energy Agency, in order to solve the problem in the long-term operation of a light water reactor, preparation which does the irradiation experiment of light-water reactor fuel and material is advanced. In N$$_2$$O a detailed study of the vibrational distribution of the state reached after decay of core-to-$$pi^*$$ excitation of N terminal, N central and O 1s core levels is reported. We observe a change in the relative intensity of bending versus stretching modes while scanning the photon energy across all three resonances. While this effect is known to be due to the Renner-Teller splitting in the core-excited states, we could derive that the antisymmetric stretching is excited mainly in the decay of the N terminal 1s-to-$$pi^*$$ excitation. An explanation for such selectivity is provided in terms of interplay of vibrational structure on potential energy surfaces of different electronic states involved in the process.

Therapy of tumor using radiation, especially heavy particle, is one of the effective treatment for an aged person and a malignant solid tumor. In order to spread the radiation therapy, downsizing of accelerator is necessary for reduction of its vast costs of construction and running. The quality of high temperature superconductors is improving rapidly in recent years, which may lead to realization of the downsizing. This presentation describes a conceptual design of the superconducting cyclotron and its advantage comparing to other type of accelerators.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

Interatomic Coulombic decay (ICD) in Ar$$_2$$, ArKr and Kr$$_2$$ following Ar 2p or Kr 3d Auger decay has been investigated by means of momentum-resolved electron-ion-ion-coincidence spectroscopy. This sequential decay leads to Coulombic dissociation into dication and monocation. Simultaneously determining the kinetic energy of the ICD electron and the kinetic energy release between the two atomic ions, we could unambiguously identify the ICD channels. We find that, in general, spin conserved ICD, in which the singlet (triplet) dicationic state produced via the atomic Auger decay preferentially decays to the singlet (triplet) state, transferring the energy to the other atom, is faster than the spin-flip ICD, in which the Auger final singlet (triplet) dicationic state decays to the triplet (singlet) state.

We report soft X-ray total ion yield and angular-resolved ion yield spectra of CF$$_3$$I in the C 1s, I 3d and F 1s ionisation regions, and tentatively assign the observed electronic states. Anisotropy in ion yield is observed only for the C 1s$$rightarrowsigma^*_{C-I}$$ transition, indicating that the dipole moment for this transition is parallel to the C$$_{3v}$$. The effusive source of CF$$_3$$I is heated to 800 K to produce a mixture of CF$$_3$$ and I, and the resulting spectra are compared to those recorded at room temperature to reveal the first information on the inner-shell excitation of CF$$_3$$.

Numerical simulation of critical current performance in Nb$$_{3}$$Sn strand subjected to periodic bending deformation

In the ITER Engineering Design Activity (EDA), it was revealed the critical current of the Nb$$_{3}$$Sn model coil conductor degraded by periodic strand bending caused by enormous electromagnetic force. We developed a simulation code based on the distributed circuit to investigate dependency of the critical current performance on bending strain. The results of the numerical simulations were in good agreement with the experiments. The dependence of the critical current on periodic transverse load, temperature, pitch of periodic load, thickness of Ta barrier which prevents Cu stabilizer to be contaminated by Sn, twist pitch of the strand and RRR of the bronze matrix is investigated using developed code. The results show the critical current degraded less with decreasing the pitch of the transverse load and increasing the Ta barrier thickness. It suggests that shorter twist pitch of the cable and larger bending stiffness prevent the critical current degradation.

Numerical simulation of critical current degradation of Nb$$_{3}$$Sn strand in CIC conductor

Critical current was degraded by periodic transverse load in a CICC. A simulation code was developed to study mechanism of this degradation in details. The simulation results were compared with results of experiment in which single strand was periodically bent. Since the test results could not be simulated well in the previous work, the authors carried out improvements of the model, such as use of electro-plastic model and detail evaluation of conductance among filaments. By these improvements the agreement between the simulation and experiment can be modified. This results in verifying validity of our code. Using our code, the general dependence of the critical current degradation on strand configuration, such as barrier thickness, RRR of bronze and twist pitch of filament, are evaluated. The results show barrier thickness affects critical current performance because of its large bending rigidity. On the other hand, RRR of bronze and twist pitch of filament hardly affects critical current performance.

Critical current of ITER mode coil degraded as increase of electromagnetic force. It was shown that the periodic bending of the strand caused this degradation from analysis based on results of experiments in which periodic transverse load is artificially applied to single strand. However, since the experiments were carried out under a certain condition, general relation between transverse load and critical current was not obtained. The authors therefore developed a numerical simulation code. The simulation results are in good agreement with test results. The general dependence of the critical current on temperature and pitch of periodic load is studied using our code. The simulation results reveal that the reduced critical current depends on the temperature and is a function of the bending strain independent of the pitch of the periodic load.

We measured the electrical resistivity and AC-specific heat for a canted ferromagnet CePtAl under pressures using a diamond-anvilpressure cell. With increasing pressure, the magnetic ordering temperature $$T_{rm C1}$$ increases monotonously, becomes constant above 8 GPa and then starts to decrease steeply in a narrow pressure region from 10.3 to 10.9 GPa, indicating the first-order like phase transition. The similar pressure dependence of $$T_{rm C1}$$ was obtained in the AC-specific heat measurement.

To demonstrate the applicability of Nb$$_{3}$$Sn CICCs to ITER, four Nb$$_{3}$$Sn model coils have been constructed and tested. The experimental results showed that the measured critical current (Ic) degraded. In addition, the larger is the applied electromagnetic force, the larger the magnitude of the degradation is. The degradation in n-value was also observed. One of the explanations of this degradation is a local strand bending. This consideration has been supported by the test results. However, general dependence of Ic on periodic bending strain has not been clarified in this test since the experiments were carried out at a certain magnetic field, temperature and strain. Therefore, a numerical simulation code was developed to study the general dependence of the Ic and n-value of the Nb$$_{3}$$Sn strand on periodic bending strain. A distributed constant circuit model is applied to simulate current transfer among the filaments in the strand. The simulation results show relatively good agreement with the experiment results but some modification in modeling is required for more accurate simulation.

This paper reports Personnel Interlock System, Machine Protection System, and other Interlock System in J-PARC LINAC. The noise measures is important in MPS, we describe the noise decreasing method. The number of accelerating particles in J-PARC LINAC that can be accelerated has been deciding by ministry's guideline. Therefore, it is necessary to do severe surveillance. Here we also explain this particle monitoring instrument.
