S=1/2カゴメ格子反強磁性体と三角格子反強磁性体の磁化過程を研究した。その結果、カゴメ格子反強磁性体では、磁化3分の1のところに、従来の磁化プラトーとは異なる磁化ランプと呼ばれる新しい現象が起きることがわかった。このランプとプラトーの違いを明らかにするため、パラメータ空間に通常の三角格子とカゴメ格子をともに含む一般化された三角格子を導入し、磁化3分の1の基底状態について調べた。その結果、三角格子とカゴメ格子の間で量子相転移が起きることが判明した。

has a heavy-fermion ground state with an enormously large Sommerfeld coefficient of 8 J/molK
, and that is sensitive to external fields. Whereas pressure induces antiferromagnetic order, magnetic field induces metamagnetic transitions around 0.5 T, and new ordered state appears above 6 T for
. In order to get insights into electronic states and its magnetic field response, neutron scattering experiments on single crystalline samples were carried. In a field-induced phase, magnetic reflections were successfully observed, which has a different propagation vector to that of pressure induced phase. Inelastic neutron scattering probes a crystal-field excitation at a low excitation energy which overlaps to quasielastic response. The results suggest degenerated energy scale, and that leads to variety of external response in YbCo
Zn
.

(T: Co, Ir) have been investigated by measuring Hall effect. Overall behavior is explained by the skew scattering on the impurity model at high temperatures and the periodic Anderson model at low temperatures. Rather complicated behavior was observed in UIr

We investigate ground-state properties of a
-orbital Hubbard model on a zigzag chain, by exploiting numerical techniques. The electron number per site is set to be two, leading to a local
=1 state. That is, the system is a Haldane system with active orbital degrees of freedom. We assume that the
level is split into the
(
) and
(
) levels due to the tetragonal crystalline electric field effect. With varying the level splitting, we observe a quantum phase transition that accompanies the change of the orbital state. We will report the detailed ground-state phase diagram and discuss the spin and orbital states. We will also discuss possible relevance of the obtained results to real compounds such as CaV
O
.

has a cubic spinel structure with a single Mn site whose valence is +3.5. Below about 260 K, the compound exhibits a charge ordering and has inequivalent Mn sites with valences of +3 and +4. However, even in the cubic phase without the charge ordering, temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity is non-metallic. We have performed PDF (atomic pair distribution function) analysis on powder neutron diffraction data of LiMn
O
obtained above 300 K where the compound has cubic structure. The local structure determined by PDF analysis has an orthorhombic lattice distortion and includes the inequivalent Mn sites with valences of +3 and +4 up to, at least, about 450 K. These results indicate that valence electrons are localized at Mn sites with short range periodicity, resulting in the non-metallic electrical conductivity. It can be regarded as a glass state of valence electrons whereas a charge ordering can be regarded as a crystallization of valence electrons.

We study ferromagnetic states in the periodic Anderson model by using the Gutzwiller method. We find three ferromagnetic states: a weakly polarized state, a half-metallic state, and a ferromagnetic state with an almost completely polarized f-electron state. Between these ferromagnetic states, the structure of the Fermi surface is different. In the paramagnetic state, a large Fermi-surface is realized. The topology of the Fermi surface in the weakly polarized state is the same as in the paramagnetic state. In the half-metallic state, the Fermi surface for the majority spin disappears. In the ferromagnetic state with large f-electron polarization, a small Fermi-surface is realized. Then, the phase transitions between these ferromagnetic states accompany change in the Fermi-surface topology, called Lifshitz transitions.

is a paramagnetic semiconductor. Chemical substitution of the sulfur site or application of hydrostatic pressure induces ferromagnetic ordering, indicating that

is located near the ferromagnetic instability. Application of magnetic field leads to a huge negative magnetoresistance in
-US
and this behavior is discussed based on the magnetic polaron. In the present study, we study the magnetic, transport and thermal properties of
-US
in detail to clarify the anomalous behavior. Magnetization measurements at low temperature can roughly be explained by a ferromagnetic cluster behavior where the number of the cluster is equal to the number of carrier estimated from Hall effect measurements, consistent with the magnetic polaron model.

核燃料開発においては、より精密で信頼性の高い物性値を計算可能とする数値シミュレーション技術の開発が求められている。本発表では上記課題に対して、第一原理計算手法の一つであるハイブリッド密度汎関数法に基づく、二酸化プルトニウムの物性値評価の結果を報告する。なお、課題解決にあたっては、ハイブリッド法を採用することにより、従来、強相関効果を取り入れた手法でしか再現できなかった電子状態を得ることに成功した。この解決により、二酸化プルトニウムを含む酸化物核燃料の物性評価をより精度よく推算できるようになることが期待される。

トポロジカル絶縁体と呼ばれる端のみで電流を運ぶ熱電変換効率の高いと予想される物質群が、原子力分野をはじめとして、さまざまな産業への応用も期待され盛んに研究されている。一方、トポロジカル絶縁体BiSeに銅を導入することによって作製された超伝導体CuxBiSeは、端のみで電流を流すという特異な物性を持ち、かつ超伝導ともなるため、従来にない新しいデバイスとして期待されており、その物性の詳細を明らかにすることが求められている。本講演では、以前構築に成功したトポロジカル超伝導体の有効理論をさらに発展させることにより、表面の効果を扱えるようになったことを報告する。具体的には、トポロジカル絶縁体の表面に生成される表面束縛状態の情報を用いて、それが超伝導となったときに物性にどのような影響を与えるかを記述する方程式を導出した。

光学格子中の冷却原子気体では固体中の電子状態と同様の状態を作り出すことができることから、量子物性のシミュレーターとして注目されている。近年では多軌道を持った光学格子中の原子気体が実現しており、遷移金属などが示すさまざまな強相関電子物性を光学格子中で実現することが可能になると考えられている。本発表では多軌道を持つフェルミ原子気体が示す強磁性状態に対し、密度行列繰り込み群法を用いた解析を行った。得られた結果として、原子が金属的な状況にある場合に強磁性が発言することを示した。また、Haldane相と強磁性相が共存して現れることも明らかにした。強磁性相はHaldane相のedge状態と結合して現れ、強磁性自体がedge状態と同様の特性を持つという興味深い結果を得ることができた。

We studied the temperature dependence of spin excitation in the underdoped La
Sr
CuO
in a wide energy range. At low temperature, a clear magnetic signal emerging from incommensurate (IC) (0.5
0.09, 0.5) positions was observed. The low-energy (
10 meV) IC signal was confirmed at 200K, while the IC signal gradually merges upon warming and turns into a single commensurate peak centered at (0.5, 0.5) at 300 K. The overall spectral shape above
60 meV measured at 5 K and 350 K was almost the same, meaning the weak thermal effect on the high-energy dispersion relation. This weak change in the high-energy dispersion is consistent with the localized spin picture, whereas the robust IC structure against the temperature would be difficult to explain within a simple stripe model.

Hall effect measurements in ferromagnet U
P
were carried out under pressure up to 4.3 GPa. The Hall resistivity at paramagnetic state is dominated by the extraordinary Hall effect due to the skew scattering. The Curie temperature decreases with increasing pressure and disappears at Pc = 4.1 GPa. The clear first-order metamagnetic transition from the paramagnetic state to the strongly ferromagnetic state appears around Pc at low temperature.

We have investigated the Ru/Os concentration dependence of the Pr guest mode in Pr(Os
Ru
)
Sb
and its variation with temperature. The Pr guest mode at 3.2 meV in PrOs
Sb
at the N point linearly shifts to a higher energy with the substitution of Ru into the Os site. The energy of the Pr guest mode decreases with decreasing temperature for all compositions, indicating the presence of an anharmonic potential at the Pr site. The slope of the temperature dependence of the guest mode energy is steeper for pure PrOs
Sb
than for the other Pr(Os
Ru
)
Sb
compounds we measured. The present results imply the importance of the transition metal in determining anharmonicity in Pr(Os
Ru
)
Sb
.
and Cu
Ag
CrO

Two-dimensional triangular-lattice Heisenberg antiferromagnet (TLHA) is one of the simplest examples of the geometrical frustration, where nontrivial spin states are expected due to the frustration. CuCrO
is one of the TLHAs where the
= 3/2 spins of Cr
ions form the triangular-lattice. The spins show a three-dimensional ordering with a proper screw structure below
= 24 K. To find nontrivial spin fluctuations in addition to the conventional spin wave, we have studied the magnetic excitations by inelastic neutron scattering using the chopper spectrometer AMATERAS at J-PARC. We found that the excitation spectrum shows an additional diffusive quasielastic component at temperatures (
's) slightly below
and
. This diffuse scattering shows the different
dependence from that of the spin wave excitations, as well as a characteristic
dependence. We argue the origin of the diffuse scattering in terms of the
-vortex and spin molecules.
