Japan Atomic Energy Agency organized an international conference PHYSOR 2014 on the reactor physics which is one of basic researches in the nuclear engineering, in cooperation with Research Reactor Institute of Kyoto University. PHYSOR is the world's largest scale international conference in the reactor physics field. It originates in the conference held in Marseille, France in 1990, which originally had been organized in the United States as a Physics of Reactors Topical Meeting of the reactor physics division of the American Nuclear Society every two years. More than 500 papers had been submitted and finally 472 papers were presented in the conference after the paper review process. This report contains the presented papers, which the PHYSOR organizing committee has decided to publish in an official JAEA report with the permission by authors, except for several selected papers to be published in the Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan.

The International Symposium : Transfer of Radionuclides in Biosphere, Prediction and Assessment was held at Mito on the 18th and 19th of Dec. 2002. This Symposium was organized by the Interchange Committee on Radionuclide Transfer in Soil Ecosphere. This project is the 3rd Phase Crossover Research, which is engaged in cooperation with five organizations:JAERI, MRI, NIRS, RIKEN and IES. The main objective of this symposium is to discuss and exchange recent findings and ideas in the area of the behavior and transfer of radionuclides in biosphere. One of the important topics in this symposium is to discuss a suitable transfer model and transfer parameters which may be adapted for Southeast Asian countries including Japan, as environmental conditions and foodstuffs in this region are significantly different from those in Europe and North America. The symposium consisted of 12 invited lectures and 44 poster presentations. The 120 participants attended the symposium, including 19 foreigners coming from 12 countries.

The workshop on application of free-electron laser (FEL) and nuclear isomer study was held at Tokai Research Establishment of JAERI on September 28. The workshop was devoted to the discussions and the presentations of two thema as follows: Six papers associated with the laser compton gamma-ray, the photonuclear physics and the nuclear astrophysics using the gannma-ray produced by the T3 laser were presented in the morning session. Seven papers including an invited talk on the behavior of molecules in intense laser light fields and associated with the chemical decomposition of dioxin, the silicon isotope separetion, the infrared photoexcitation spectroscopy, the laser-tissue interaction and the single-wall carbon nanotube and nanohorn by FEL etc. were also presented in the afternoon session. The intensive discussion was exchanged among approximately 50 participants. Each performance during the first workshop was fully telecomunicated by a video conference system between Tokai and Kizu (Kansai Research Establishment) sites.
