Thermoelectric materials for highly efficient devices must satisfy conflicting requirements of high electrical conductivity and low thermal conductivity. In this paper, we studied the crystal structure and phonon dynamics of tetrahedrites (Cu,Zn)$$_{12}$$(Sb,As)$$_{4}$$S$$_{13}$$. The results revealed that the Cu atoms in a planar coordination are rattling, which effectively scatter phonons. These findings provide a new strategy for the development of highly efficient thermoelectric materials with planar coordination.

Accidental actions on building structures involve impact and explosion loads. The design loads due to impact are determined by experiment data, impact simulation and energetics approach. These loads are presented in the form of load-time (F-t) curves caused by collision and explosion. It is assumed that the structure is rigid and immovable and that impacting body absorbs all the energy (i.e., hard impact condition is supposed), because this assumption gives conservative results in general. Responses of individual structural members directly-subjected to an impulsive load are evaluated. These responses are classified into three types; impulsive response, dynamic response, and quasi-static response. The maximum responses are basically estimated by direct integration method with a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) model. The procedure of the SDOF modelling based on the classification of types of members and failure modes is proposed in AIJ guideline.

Though design guidelines for earthquake and wind loads are specified for buildings, the guideline for impulsive load as explosion and impact is not specified yet in architectural field. This document corresponds to Chapter 8 of the book titled "Introduction to Shock-Resistant Design of Buildings" which made towards the impact design guideline. Some design examples are presented to illustrate the applicability of the tentative guideline for impulsive loads. Two buildings - a steel frame and a reinforced concrete frame building structures - located at the corner of a crossroads are selected. Dynamic responses and the corresponding damage states are illustrated for the cases of two buildings subjected to impact loads due to road vehicle crashes, internal and external explosions. The idea has been shown in this document are those that can be applied to nuclear facilities.

JAEA has worked for the contribution to the world disarmament and nonproliferation through the United States and Russia cooperation on the excess weapon plutonium disposition from Russian as well as to acquire the basic data of the post irradiation test with the BN-600 and the vibropack MOX fuel fabrication technologies. To support the initiative of Japan government, JAEA has started the joint research activities with some of the Russian national laboratories under the MINATOM in 1999. Since then, JAEA has been involved into the demonstration experiment for the vibropack fuel irradiation with the BN-600 that was managed by the PESCO corp. under the contract with MEXT. The joint researches with Russian national laboratories and the demonstration studies on vibropac MOX fuel assemblies from 1999 to 2011 are surmmarized in this document.

Saline groundwater contains high concentrations of chloride ions, which possibly elevate the pH of cement pore water by reacting with hydrogarnet and producing Friedel's salt. Calcium aluminate hydrates and portlandite, which can be found in hydrated ordinary Portland cement (OPC), were immersed in a sodium chloride solution, which had concentrations similar to those found in seawater.

Neutron capture cross sections of minor actinides and long-lived fission products are important for the R&D of innovative nuclear reactors. However, those data are rather poor both in quality and in quantity at present. Thus, we have started projects for neutron cross section measurements. We will construct an innovative $$gamma$$-ray spectrometer consisting of Ge crystals and BGO shields. The neutron cross section measurements will be done at KUR linac and JAEA JRR-3M facilities, which will be extended at the high-intensity neutron source at J-PARC.

We have examined the electronic states of the Kondo semiconductor CeRhAs and the semimetal CeRhSb by means of high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy using tunable photon energies from 40 up to 5948 eV. On the basis of the photon-energy dependence ofthe photoionization cross-section, we have elucidated the p-d-f hybridized states in these compounds.

【課題】原子炉、プラント等の冷却材として利用されるナノ粒子分散液体アルカリ金属の濃度制御を、ナノ粒子分散液体アルカリ金属の濃度の変化に即時対応できるナノ粒子分散液体アルカリ金属の濃度制御方法を提供する。 【解決手段】ナノ粒子分散液体アルカリ金属の濃度としてナノ粒子分散濃度、ナノ粒子径ならびにナノ粒子個数を取得する濃度取得手段と、濃度取得手段によって取得された取得濃度が、予め基準化された基準濃度と比較することで、前記ナノ粒子分散液体アルカリ金属を濃縮するか、希釈するかの判定を行い、濃縮装置あるいは希釈装置に対して運転条件を決定する濃縮・希釈量設定手段とを有するナノ粒子分散液体アルカリ金属の濃度制御方法である。
