動燃創立以来,満15年を経過するに当り,高速増殖炉原型炉プロジェクトの進展と高速増殖炉開発本部の体制・組織の変更(昭和5657年)を機会に,これまで継続して行ってきた高速増殖炉に係る動燃の成果の概要を文章化して,一連の成果報告書としてとりまとめることになった。本報は,その一環として,高速実験炉「常陽」に係る成果を集大成したものである。期間としては,昭和45年の建設開始から昭和56年のMK―I運転終了までをカバーしている。項目としては,1.経緯、2.設備概要、3.設計経験、4.建設経験、5.運転経験、6.保守経験、7.プラント性能評価、8.常陽燃料及び照射計画、9.放射線管理の経験、各項目について,それぞれ永年の経緯に精通した執筆者によって記述され,「常陽」プロジェクトの建設並びに運転記録として,貴重な資料となった。執筆に当った多くの方々に謝意を表する次第です。

Fifteen years passed since the foundation of PNC, and the organization of the Fast Breeder Reactor Development Project was changed in 1982. In this chance, it is considered that the results of the research axid development (R&D) of the FBR project should be summarized. This report is described as one of the summary reports and is concerned with the construction and operation of the Experimental Fast Reactor "JOYO" covering the period from 1970 towards 1981. Written items in this report are as follows ; (1)History of JOYO project (2)JOYO plant summary (3)Design experience (4)Construction experience (5)Operation experience (6)Maintenance experience (7)Plant characteristics evaluation (8)JOYO fuels and irradiation program (9)Radiation control experience. Those item are written by may people who has been to JOYO project for a long period.
