Impulsive Raman transition, which is induced by a femtosecond laser, is an important process to be used for the control of vibrations of molecules. In this study, as a model experiment to control the impulsive Raman transitions, we observed the alterations of internal state distributions of iodine molecules in the B state using a femtoscond laser. As a result, we could observe the evidence of the vibrational impulsive Raman transition over the B state of the iodine molecules. Other processes induced by the femtosecond laser such as dissociation or ionization are also discussed.
