本ワークショップは、文部科学省及びベトナム科学技術庁とが共催し、国際原子力研究機関(IAEA)の協力のもと、ベトナム原子力委員会と日本原子力研究開発機構が共同実施した。本ワークショップの目的は、アジア原子力協力プログラム(FNCA)参加各国が、天然高分子の放射線加工の実用化状況を討議し、今後の実用化に向けたプロジェクトの計画を策定することである。会議には、アジア原子力地域協力協定(RCA)加盟国からも、フィリピン,インド,パキスタン,スリランカ,エジプトが参加した。天然多糖類の橋かけでは、創傷被覆材への応用が進み、インド,韓国,マレーシアで実用化されている。分解キトサンは中国で水産養殖に応用が展開した。グラフト重合では、土壌保水剤としての実用化がベトナムで進められている。次回の会合は、2008年10月に中国、上海で開催される予定である。

This workshop was jointly executed by Vietnamese Atomic Energy Commission and Japan Atomic Energy Agency and co-sponsored by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan and Vietnamese Science and Technology Agency under the cooperation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The purpose of this workshop is to discuss the practical applications of the radiation processing of the natural polymer and to make the plan of the practical project. The Philippines, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Egypt participated as member states of RCA. The crosslinked natural polysaccharides have been applied to the wound dressing sheets in India, South Korea, and Malaysia. The degraded chitosan was used for the fish culturing in China. In the graft polymerization, practical use as the soil conditioner was advanced in Vietnam. The next meeting will be scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China in October, 2008.
