常圧のAs$$_{2}$$S$$_{3}$$融体は3次元ネットワーク構造を持ち、非常に高い粘性と半導体的な性質を持つ液体である。われわれは高圧下では、この液体で短距離及び中距離秩序に顕著な変化を起こすことを見いだした。すなわち、配位数が増加し、中距離秩序がほとんど消失することが明らかになった。

The As$$_{2}$$S$$_{3}$$ melt at room pressure represents a liquid having a three-dimensional network structure, semiconducting properties, and a huge viscosity. We have found that under high pressure a considerable change in the medium and short-range structure of this liquid is observed. Intermediate-range order correlations in the atomic arrangement almost disappear under pressure and an increase in the coordination number is observed.
