Measurement of the stripping efficiency for HBC stripper foil in the 3-GeV RCS of J-PARC

The newly developed HBC stripper foil is used for the H stripping injection in the RCS and plays an important role in the operation. From the design criteria, it is very important to know the realistic stripping efficiency of the foil as a foil with different stripping efficiency causes a serious limitation in the stable and high power operation. We have developed a rather simple very precise method which determines the stripping efficiency very accurately. Such an accurate measurement of the installed foil is already found to very essential in order to determine realistic operational parameters for the RCS operation.
