環境汚染除去技術開発の一環として、セシウム吸着機能を持つ官能基を付加したグラフト重合捕集材,高いセシウム吸着選択性を有するタンパク質及びクラウンエーテル捕集材を開発するとともに、ポリイオン及びベントナイト(粘土)により土壌表層に存在するセシウムの固定化・回収技術を開発した。当該技術を用いたフィールド試験を福島県飯舘村にて実施し、その有効性を実証した。

For removing radioactive elements scattered in environment due to nuclear plant accident, we have synthesized highly efficient cesium absorbents by introducing phosphomolybdic acid groups into polyethlene matrix with radiation grafting. Cesium absorbents based on protein or crown ether materials have been newly developed. We have also established immobilization and collection technology of cesium existed into the soil outer layer by using polyion and bentonite (clay). The effectiveness of these technologies has been demonstrated from the field examination in Fukushima.
