Current status of the construction work of Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory

瑞浪超深地層研究所では研究坑道の掘削を進めている。研究坑道は2011年10月現在、深度500mまで到達している。本報告では、研究坑道掘削工事の概要と現状について示す。

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA)'s task is to provide the scientific and technical basis for safe geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste. This involves researches on development and improvement of techniques for characterization of the deep geological environment and a wide range of engineering for deep underground application in crystalline rock at "Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory (MIU)". MIU is currently being constructed. The Main and Ventilation Shafts had reached GL-500m. This report describes the current status of the construction Work.
