Effect of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake in the injection and extraction of the J-PARC 3-GeV RCS

The effect of the alignment errors caused by the 2011 earthquake in the RCS injection and extraction was estimated in the present simulation. It was found that the nominal beam injection and extraction would possible by optimizing corresponding magnet parameters within their margins so as to restore the user operation as scheduled as well as to fix the RCS realignment schedule in 2013. The post earthquake beam commissioning results were found to be consistent with expectation and thus the RCS user operation was resumed without any problem as expected.
