To gain further insight into the controversial defect structure of so-called defect-fluorite (DF)-type oxide solid solutions (ss), MO$$_{2}$$-LnO$$_{1.5}$$ (M$$^{4+}$$= Zr, Hf, Ce, Th, U, Pu, etc; Ln$$^{3+}$$=lanthanide) we have conducted their comprehensive Ln (Eu and Gd) M$"o$ssbauer, EXAFs and NMR etc spectroscopic and XRD study freshly combined with a new defect-fluorite-chemistry model recently proposed by one (AN) of the present authors. In this talk some latest achievements of this study is described and discussed.
