The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between residual stress in tensile-deformed single crystals and their recrystallization behaviour. Aluminum single crystal having 111 tensile direction was chosen. This crystal exhibit macroscopically uniform multiple-slip without the formation of deformation bands such as kink bands and bands of secondary slip. However, the work-hardening behaviours for this orientation is totally different owing to the difference in dislocation microstructures. Furthermore, post-deformation annealing behaviours of this single crystal are totally different. In the present study, we will evaluate the residual stress in tensile-deformed aluminum single crystals of the multiple-slip orientations such as 111 by using non-destructive X-ray stress measurement method. We expect that the residual stress measurements help quantitative understanding about deformation and recrystallization.
