Methods for heat transport analysis and heat transport simulation in toroidal plasmas are summarized on the basis of energy balance equation. Joule heating, NBI heating, RF heating and heating are briefly explained. Among the energy loss mechanism, the conduction loss and the radiation loss dominate in the core plasma region and the peripheral region, respectively. In tokamaks, the anomalous transport caused by microturbulence is much larger than the neoclassical transport. The other mechanisms of enhanced transport, the sawtooth oscillation and the magnetic island formation, are also shown.

Understanding of diagenesis is important for engineering use of underground environments for example industrial and radioactive waste management, CO storage, and so on. Authors have been developing numerical model of reactive transport in sedimentary rocks. In order to analyse ion exchange reactions during freshening process of fossil seawater in Horonobe mudstones, active fraction model was adopted. Exchangeable cationic composition was simulated under the assumption of static exchange reactions. Our calculation revealed that Na-desorption and Ca-adsorption will occur when exchange parameters of the rocks are assumed to be those of soils. This result is qualitatively consistent with observed depth profile of bulk composition. We try to calculate bulk compositional profiles by coupled modelling between ion exchange reactions and advective-dispersive transport of solutes, and will quantitatively discuss ion exchange parameters inherent in Horonobe mudstones.

In engineered barrier system of low-level radioactive waste, time-dependent variation of groundwater chemistry for cementitious near-field is important for performance assessment of physical containment attained by metallic container. We have been developing an assessment methodology of concrete degradation due to groundwater infiltration under various redox-oxidation conditions. Numerical analysis targeted at concretes consisting of OPC and limestone aggregates has been conducted. As a result, contrasting dissolution behaviour between AFm- and AFt-phases has been observed: (1) in the case of oxidizing groundwater, AFm-phase leached out before complete dissolution of AFt-phase; (2) in the case of reducing groundwater, AFm-phase leached out after complete dissolution of AFt-phase. This result suggests that numerical settings for AFm- and AFt-solid solutions should be given sufficient attention.
