Countermeasure against Beyond Design Basis Accident of HTTR by using fire engine

Shimazaki, Yosuke; Jidaisho, Tatsuya; Ishii, Toshiaki; Inoi, Hiroyuki; Iigaki, Kazuhiko

JAEA-Technology 2024-005, 23 Pages, 2024/06

JAEA-Technology-2024-005.pdf:5.53MB

HTTR has newly assumed Beyond Design Basis Accident (BDBA) as part of conformity assessment with the new regulatory standards and has established measures to prevent the spread of BDBA. Among these measures, to prevent the spread of BDBA caused by cooling water leaks from spent fuel storage pool, the Oarai Research Institute's fire engine was selected as an equipment to prevent the spread of BDBA, and required performances such as pumping water performance were determined. After all required performances were confirmed by inspections, the fire engine passed the operator's pre-use inspection and contributed to the restart of the HTTR operations.

Development of a design support system for geological disposal of radioactive waste using a CIM concept

Sugita, Yutaka; Kageyama, Takeshi*; Makino, Hitoshi; Shimbo, Hiroshi*; Hane, Koji*; Kobayashi, Yuichi*; Fujisawa, Yasuo*; Makanae, Koji*; Yabuki, Nobuyoshi*

Proceedings of 17th International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE 2018) (Internet), 8 Pages, 2018/06

This paper presents status of development of the iSRE (integrated system for repository engineering) as a design supporting system that enables rational designing of a geological disposal repository. The complimentary technique of construction information modeling/management (CIM) has been employed for the development of iSRE. CIM uses a shared three dimensional (3D) model of associated data through common data models. In this paper, as a design support system that conforms to the characteristics of information management about engineering technology represented by repetition of design during the disposal project period, we examined and designed the function of the "iSRE", constructed a prototype, and confirmed the function through a trial simulating actual work in the disposal project. As a result, with respect to the functions of DB and IF of the iSRE, we got a prospect that these functions can be the foundation of information management on engineering technology, and development of the prototype of the iSRE and its test run extracted issues for practical use of such system.

JFT-2M has been modified three times in the Advanced Material Tokamak Experiment (AMTEX) program to investigate compatibility of the low activation ferritic steel F82H with tokamak plasmas as a structural material for future reactors. The ferritic steel plate/wall was installed inside and/or outside of the vacuum vessel to reduce the ripple of toroidal magnetic field step by step through three modifications. This paper focuses on engineering aspects in these modifications; electromagnetic analysis to find a suitable way for fixing these plates, installation procedure to keep small tolerance, a three-dimensional magnetic field measurement device used to obtain information of the actual shape of the vacuum vessel used as a installation standard surface. To keep a good surface condition of the ferritic steel plate/wall that rusts easily, careful treatment was executed before the installation. To reduce oxygen impurities further, a boronization system with tri-methyl boron, which is safe and easy to operate, was developed.

The International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility (IFMIF) Technical Meetings were held on May 17-20, 2005 at Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) Tokyo. The main objectives were (1) to review technical status of the subsystems; accelerator, target and test facilities, (2) to technically discuss interface issues between target and test facilities, (3) to review results of peer-reviews performed in the EU and Japan, (4) to harmonize design / experimental activities among the subsystems, (5) to review and discuss the Engineering Validation and Engineering Design Activity (EVEDA) tasks, and (6) to make a report of (1) - (5) to the IFMIF Executive Subcommittee. This report presents a brief summary of the Target Technical Meeting, Test Facilities Technical Meeting, Target / Test Facilities Interface Meeting, Accelerator Technical Meeting and the Technical Integration Meeting.
