The prediction accuracy of the neutron computation codes and nuclear data libraries in a wide range of neutron spectra was evaluated by constructing three experimental configurations of the FCA-XXII-1 assembly with different void fractions (45%, 65%, and 95%) of the moderator material. In a previous paper, we reported the criticality and reactivity worths measured in these experiments. This paper provides the experimental results for the central reaction rate ratios and fission distributions as follows. The fission rate ratios of
U and
Pu relative to
U were measured at the core centers using three calibrated fission chambers, and the
U capture reaction rate ratio relative to
U fission was measured using depleted uranium foils. Reaction rate distributions were also obtained by traversing four micro fission chambers of HEU, NU, Pu, and Np through each core region in the radial and axial directions. The experimental analyses were performed using detailed models of the Monte Carlo code MVP3 with JENDL-4.0. Most calculation results agreed well with the experiments, whereas those for the fission rate ratio of
Pu to
U were underestimated by up to 6% with the softening neutron spectrum.

被引用回数:1 パーセンタイル:57.00(Nuclear Science & Technology)高富化度MOX燃料稠密格子の軽水炉を模擬した積分実験を高速炉臨界集合体(FCA)において実施した。中性子計算手法と核データの広範囲な中性子スペクトル場に対する予測精度を明らかにするため、減速材である発泡ポリスチレンの空隙率を変えた3つの実験体系を構築し、臨界度、減速材ボイド反応度値及び種々のサンプル反応度を系統的に測定した。また、高速炉解析用の決定論的計算コードとJENDL-4.0を用いた予備解析により、反応度価値の計算において概ね実験値を再現することを確認した。特に柔らかい中性子スペクトルの実験体系に対して、超微細エネルギー群の取扱いにより決定論的計算手法による反応度価値の予測精度が大幅に向上されることを明らかにした。更に、モンテカルロ計算コードMVP3を使用して実験体系を詳細にモデル化することで、決定論的手法の妥当性を確認した。

Newly discovered spin-caloritronic phenomena such as the spin Seebeck effect (SSE) have stimulated the renewed interest in the thermoelectric phenomena of a magnet, which have been known for a long time, e.g. the anomalous Nernst effect (ANE). These spin-caloritronic phenomena involving the SSE and the ANE have provided with a new direction for thermoelectric conversion exploiting J
and/or M. Importantly, the symmetry of ANE allows the thermoelectric conversion in the transverse configuration between J
and J
. Although the transverse configuration is totally different from the conventional longitudinal configuration based on the Seebeck effect and has many advantages, we are still facing several issues that need to be solved before developing practical applications. The primal issue is the improvement of conversion efficiency. In the case of ANE-based applications, a material with a large anomalous Nernst coefficient (S
) is the key for solving the issue. This review article introduces the increase of S
can be achieved by forming superlattice structures, which has been demonstrated for several kinds of materials combinations. The overall picture of studies on spin caloritronics is first surveyed. Then, we mention the pioneering work on the transverse thermoelectric conversion in superlattice structures, which was performed using Fe-based metallic superlattices, and show the recent studies for the Ni-based metallic superlattices and the ordered alloy-based metallic superlattices.

The construction of the halite unit-cell from the ionic radii of the constitutive species is proposed with the use of our hybrid model, considering flexible anion and cation radii. 312 binary halite-structured stoichiometric compounds were analyzed. This systematic study focuses first on the revision of the ionic radii of the considered species then on the proposition of relations between the anionic radius as a function of the cation's size.

About 20 years ago, a femtosecond laser emerged as a new shock-driver. Unlike conventional shock waves, a femtosecond laser driven shock wave creates unique microstructures in materials. Therefore, the properties of this shock wave may be different from those of conventional shock waves. However, the lattice behaviour under femtosecond laser-driven shock compression has never been elucidated. Here we report the ultrafast lattice behaviour in iron shocked by direct irradiation of a femtosecond laser pulse, diagnosed using X-ray free electron laser diffraction. We found that the initial compression state caused by the femtosecond laser driven shock wave is the same as that caused by conventional shock waves. We also found, for the first time experimentally, the temporal deviation of peaks of stress and strain waves predicted theoretically. Furthermore, the existence of a plastic wave peak between the stress and strain wave peaks is a new finding that has not been predicted even theoretically. Our findings will open up new avenues for designing novel materials that combine strength and toughness in a trade-off relationship.

Based on the canonical point of view, acoustic phonons are believed to be the principal thermal carriers in heat flow. Here, in this work, optical phonons are elucidated to play a pivotal role in determining the lattice thermal conductivity in thermoelectric material SnS by using the state-of-the-art inelastic neutron scattering technique combined with first-principles calculations. Additionally, in contrast to acoustic phonons, optical phonons are observed to exhibit pronounced softening and broadening with temperature. Our observations not only shed light on the significance of the optical phonons in thermal transport but also provide a vital clue to suppress the propagation of optical phonons to optimize the thermoelectric performance of SnS.

被引用回数:10 パーセンタイル:81.62(Engineering, Multidisciplinary)津波氾濫や大雨の斜面災害では、多くの浮遊物や流木、丸太などが流れに含まれる。剛体衝突による構造物の被害は、水圧による被害よりも深刻である。浮遊物体を含む自由表面流れを研究するためには、大規模計算が可能で高性能な自由表面流のシミュレーションコードの開発が必要となる。本研究ではキュムラント格子ボルツマン法と粒子ベースの剛体シミュレーションを組み合わせた単相自由表面モデルを提案する。剛体間の接触相互作用は個別要素法で計算される。解析精度の向上と計算の高速化のために8分木ベースの局所細分化格子法を導入し、自由表面や固体表面近傍には高解像度の格子を割り当てた。提案モデルの精度検証のために、八戸工業大学と神戸大学の15m水槽と70m水槽で2種類の津波実験を行った。シミュレーションの結果、漂流速度、捕捉木片数、積層角について実験と良い一致を示した。

. The structure exhibits three inequivalent Ce-sites. A striking structural motif is the tetragonal pyramid of Rh-ions surrounding the Ce2 yielding an extreme short Ce2-Rh1 spacing of
= 2.7486(10)
. This strong hint to mixed valent cerium behavior is supported by the entropy analysis. We argue that the Ce2-ion is in a nonmagnetic Ce
state while the other 2 Ce-sites are in a trivalent state. At low temperatures these latter become partially Kondo screened (
4 K) and order antiferromagnetic below
= 2.31 K. The ordering is accompanied by a superzone gap-opening in direction of the magnetic propagation vector Q = (0, 0, l).

SR results reveal the absence of both static long-range magnetic order and spin freezing down to 0.05 K in the
= 0.1 sample, which is consistent with neutron scattering results. The weak temperature-dependent plateaus of the dynamic spin fluctuations below 0.2 K in zero field together with its longitudinal-field (LF) dependence indicate the presence of dynamic spin fluctuations persisting even at 0.05 K without static magnetic order. We argue that such a behavior for
= 0.1 can be attributed to a metallic spin-liquid-like ground state near the quantum critical point in the frustrated Kondo lattice. The LF-
SR study suggests that the out of kagome plane spin fluctuations are responsible for the spin-liquid behavior.

の条件において、通信を最適化した実装は、LETKFを並列化しない単純な実装に対して3.85倍の高速化を達成した。LETKFの主要な計算カーネルは
の実対称密行列の固有値分解であり、その計算のため、バッチ形式固有値分解ソルバEigenGを新たに開発した。EigenGによるバッチ形式固有値分解は、既存ライブラリであるcuSolverに対して64倍の高速化を達成した。

128GPUで93.4%の並列化効率を示し、最大規模の128GPU計算では44.73億格子点を用いて9620MLUPSの性能を達成した。

燃焼による燃料の損耗が少ない低出力の試験研究炉の燃料棒と水減速材で構成される非均質格子体系の臨界特性の解析を、連続エネルギーモンテカルロコードMVP Version2と評価済み核データライブラリJENDL-4.0によって行った。解析では、定常臨界実験装置STACY及び軽水臨界実験装置TCAの二酸化ウラン燃料棒、並びに原子炉安全性研究炉NSRRのウラン水素化ジルコニウム燃料棒の非均質体系についての中性子増倍率の計算結果から最小臨界燃料棒本数を評価した。さらに中性子増倍率の成分である六種類の反応率比をあわせて計算し、単位燃料棒セルの水減速材と燃料の体積比に対する中性子増倍率の変化について説明した。これらの解析結果は、臨界安全ハンドブックでは十分に示されていない試験研究炉実機の燃料棒からなる水減速非均質格子体系の臨界特性を示すデータとして、臨界安全対策の合理性、妥当性の確認に利用できるものと考えられる。

-delta (REBCO) composite tapes are candidate conductors for future accelerator magnets. Given that REBCO is a brittle oxide film, stress/strain management is important in the mechanical design of a magnet. Therefore, the strain state of a superconducting film should be predicted under various operating conditions. A quantum beam is a useful tool in evaluating the strain state of a superconducting material in a composite conductor. Although various cryogenic tensile testing machines, in combination with neutron beam and synchrotron radiation, have been developed, they are not necessarily optimized for measuring highly textured materials such as REBCO films. This study reports a novel cryogenic tensile testing apparatus that can be used at the beamline of a synchrotron radiation facility. In this system, a superconducting tape is cooled using a Gifford-McMahon (GM) cryocooler through 2.5 m long thermal links made of 5 N high-purity aluminum. This enables a compact cryogenic loading system that can be mounted on the goniometer of a beamline. Lattice strain measurements using synchrotron radiation were conducted at 40 K, 77 K, and 300 K for a commercially available (Y,Gd)BCO coated conductor at BL28B2 in SPring-8. The onset strain of film fracture determined from the lattice strain measurement at 77 K agreed well with the irreversible strain of critical current at the same temperature. The residual and fracture strain of the (Y,Gd)BCO film at 77 K was evaluated as well.
