Simulation study of error effects for the J-PARC linac energy upgrade

Model errors on J-PARC LINAC quadrupole included misalignment (rotations $$phi$$x,$$phi$$y,$$phi$$z and transverse displacement $$delta$$x,$$delta$$y) and gradient error ($$Delta$$G/G), which accorded to measurement accuracy and effective length estimation for statics error as well as quadrupole ripple for dynamics error. RF system errors were focused on the gap field ($$Delta$$Egap/Egap) and the klystron field and phase ($$Delta$$Eklys/ Eklys,$$phi$$klys), which considered statics error of accuracy of LLRF control system, and dynamics error of jitters from feedback and feed forward. Each error was applied on all linac cells randomly and uniformly in different sections. According to the simulation, linac error would meet requirements for beam of transverse painting at RCS injection. Meanwhile energy spread meets the requirement mostly also, although substantial increase is anticipated due to the dynamic RF errors.
