UV Photodissociation dynamics of KCl molecules are studied by the momentum-imaging spectroscopy for the first time. A ring- and a dumbbell-like structures were observed in momentum-imaging spectrum of K. The ring structure is attributed to a perpendicular transition to a repulsive electronic state of KCl. It is to be noted that the ring is resolved to several thinner rings, arising from the vibrational hot bands. On the other hand, the dumbbell-like structure can be attributed to a direct two-photon ionization of KCl. This structure was found to be much obvious with 10-ps pulse than with 100-ps pulse, as expected. It is remarkable that the K + Cl* channel has not been observed, despite that the previous study estimated the production ratio of Cl*/Cl to be 0.3.
