Reliability of rapid bulk texture measurement using iMATERIA time-of-flight neutron diffractometer

In order to realize the time-sliced or multiple samples automatic rapid bulk texture measurement, iMATERIA with large detector panel coverage needed to realize the high texture reliability as a prerequisite. Here, the bulk textures of a cold rolled aluminum alloy and a multilayered multiphase steel as reference textured materials were respectively measured to check the reliability of iMATERIA texture measurement. As a comparison, the established TAKUMI time-of-flight neutron diffraction texture measurement and analysis technique has been employed. The almost same pole figures and ODF sections obtained from iMATERIA neutron diffractometer and TAKUMI neutron diffractometer suggests that iMATERIA is available for the quantitative texture measurements during the advanced materials science research and the commercial engineering materials research & development.
