Syntheses of novel hydrides under high pressure

Novel hydrides have been synthesized under high pressure and high temperature. In situ synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction technique is effectively used to find reaction conditions and to optimize them. Theoretical calculations predict thermodynamical stabilities of target materials before high-pressure experiments. Novel hydrides have been successfully synthesized by combining these techniques.
