セシウム吸着装置(KURION)で用いられるゼオライト吸着材(Herschelite)を希釈人工海水と共に円筒容器に充填し、排水後の充填層に保持される水の水位を指標としてHerscheliteの保水性能を評価した結果、保水性能と充填密度には正の相関があることがわかった。

The water retention performance of zeolite was evaluated on the basis of a water level in cylindrical container filled with zeolite and artificial sea water. The water level was measured with a following procedure; (1) the mixture of zeolite and artificial sea water was filled in a clear cylindrical container, (2) artificial sea water was discharged through the drain, (3) after the discharge stopped naturally, the water level was measured by watch. It was found that there was a positive correlation between the water level and the bulk density of zeolite.
