Grain-oriented (GO) electrical steel is widely used as a core material of an electric transformer due to its superior magnetic properties along the rolling direction. Since the magnetic properties of GO steel are closely related to its internal domain structure, magnetic domain observation provides an important information for understanding and improving its properties. It is well known that the domain structure in GO steel strongly depends on the applied tensile and compressive stress. In this study, we tried to observe the change in domain structure inside the GO steel under the stress applied condition by means of pulsed polarized neutron imaging technique.
