これまでに、ラドン吸入によりマウス臓器中でグルタチオン(G-SH)のような抗酸化物質が増加することを報告してきた。近年、チオール基(-SH)に余分なイオウが結合した超硫黄分子(-[S]n-SH)の強い抗酸化能が報告されている。そこで、我々は、ラドン吸入後のG-SH関連代謝物を網羅的に分析してきた。ここでは、特に、マウス心臓における影響について報告する。ラドンを吸入したマウスの心臓のメタボローム解析を行った。解析結果から、マウス心臓中の硫黄関連の代謝物は比較的低いラドン吸入で変化することが分かった。これらの代謝物がどのような働きをするのか今後さらに検討してきたい。

We have reported that radon inhalation increased the level of antioxidants, such as glutathione (G-SH), in mouse organs. Some recent studies have proposed substances with sulfur atoms bound to thiol (-[S]n-SH), which is supersulfide, have more protective effects on cells than those with thiol groups. Therefore, we have been comprehensively analyzing changes in G-SH-related metabolites in mouse organs following radon inhalation. Here we present the results of metabolomics to investigate the biological effects of radon inhalation on the mouse heart. Mice were exposed to radon. Heart samples were then excised in the after radon inhalation. We measured the sulfur-containing compounds in the samples. It was found from the result that sulfur metabolism is changed by inhalation of relatively low concentrations of radon. Further studies are needed in order to clarify the roles of the super sulfide against radon inhalation.
