Magnetic excitation in the $$S$$=1/2 Ising-like antiferromagnetic chain CsCoCl$$_{3}$$ in longitudinal magnetic fields studied by high-field ESR measurements

High-field electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements were performed on the $$S$$=1/2 Ising-like antiferromagnetic chain CsCoCl$$_{3}$$ in the frequency range up to 4.4THz and magnetic fields for $$H parallel c$$ up to 53T. We observed softening of the spinon excitation, which drives the spin chain into the quantum critical state at the critical field $$H_{c}$$=33.0T. Above $$H_{c}$$, we observed the string excitation at the wave number $$q$$=$$pi$$, which is characteristic of the $$S$$=1/2 spin chain in the quantum critical state in the magnetic fields. We also observed a crossover of the string excitation to the magnon bound state above the saturation fields $$H_{s}$$=43.9T upon increasing the magnetic fields. Finally, we discuss how the string excitation and magnon bound state can be excited by the electric dipole transition due to spin quadrupolar resonance.

In this study, we clarify the selection rules of optical transitions from the ground state to the magnetic excited states in the quasi-one-dimensional quantum Ising-like antiferromagnet BaCo$$_{2}$$V$$_{2}$$O$$_{8}$$ with spin $$S$$ = $$frac{1}{2}$$ using the high-field electron spin resonance measurement with illuminating polarized electromagnetic waves. We demonstrate that the unconventional magnetic excitation via the pair creation of quasipaticles at wave numbers $$q_{z}=pi/2$$ and $$pi$$ in the field-induced quantum critical state can couple with both oscillating magnetic and electric fields. Our density matrix renormalization group calculations indicate that the observed selection rules can be explained by two- and four-fold periodical spin interactions, originating from the screw chain structure in BaCo$$_{2}$$V$$_{2}$$O$$_{8}$$, in addition to the magnetoelectric coupling between spins and electric dipoles.

Bromine-isotope selective ionization using field-free alignment of IBr isotopologues with a switched nanosecond laser pulse

We demonstrate isotope selective ionization of I$$^{79}$$Br and I$$^{81}$$Br isotopologues using field-free alignment induced by a linearly-polarized nanosecond laser pulse with rapid turn off at the maximum. Following the switched nanosecond pulse irradiation, a 60-fs laser pulse ionizes one of the isotopologues preferentially. The ion yield ratio $$I$$(I$$^{81}$$Br$$^+$$)/$$I$$(I$$^{79}$$Br$$^+$$) varies in the range of 0.93-1.06, depending on time delay between the pulses. This is the first demonstration of laser isotope separation of heavy elements using field-free alignment and angular dependent ionization.

福島第一原子力発電所の廃止措置によって放射性物質によって汚染されたコンクリートが多量に発生することが想定される。廃止措置や放射性廃棄物管理(除染や処分等)のための計画を策定するうえでは、コンクリート材料中の放射能インベントリや分布を推定することが重要となる。本研究では、OPCモルタル中のHTO, Cs, I, Uの実効拡散係数(De)及び分配係数(Kd)を、透過拡散試験及びバッチ収着試験によって実測した。取得されたDeはHTO, I, Cs, Uの序列となり、陽イオン排除効果がOPCモルタルにおいて重要なメカニズムであることが確認された。バッチ試験で得られたKdは、拡散試験で得られたKdより1桁以上高い値となり、試料の粉砕が収着に対して影響を及ぼすことが確認された。OPCモルタル中の拡散・拡散メカニズム理解は、放射性核種のコンクリートへの浸透挙動の予測するうえで重要である。

福島第一原子力発電所の事故によって放射性セシウムによって汚染されたコンクリート瓦礫が発生しており、さらに、将来の原子炉の廃止措置に伴って多量の放射性コンクリート廃棄物が生じることが想定される。床や壁等のフラットな表面の除染には既存技術が有効であるが、コンクリート瓦礫に対する除染技術の適用性については課題がある。本研究では、パルスパワー放電技術の適用性可能性に着目して、汚染コンクリートの骨材とセメントペーストへの分離と、それぞれの放射能測定による基礎的な試験と評価を実施した。試験結果より、汚染コンクリートの骨材とセメントペーストへの分離によって、放射性コンクリートの除染と減容が達成される可能性が示された。

新たな同位体分離法を目指したフィールドフリーアライメントによるイオン化効率の同位体選択性を計算した。従来のフェムト秒レーザーを用いたフィールドフリーアライメント法では、レーザー強度を強くするとイオン化の選択性が無くなってしまうのに対し、200fsでカットオフするナノ秒レーザーパルスを用いると選択性を保持したまま高い同位体選択イオン化が実現することが判明した。

周波数分解オプティカルゲート法(FROG)による真空紫外光の波形測定法を確立しその解析アルゴリズムを確立させた。高強度フェムト秒レーザー照射によって石英試料表面に生じたプラズマによりVUV反射率は急激な増大を示す。その反射VUV光の時間分解反射スペクトルを測定することによりVUV光の波形を決定することができる。

コンパクトERL(cERL)においてエネルギー回収型リニアックを基盤とするレーザーコンプトン散乱(LCS)光源のために必要な加速器およびレーザーについての技術開発を行った。ERL-LCS光源のような高強度,エネルギー可変,単色光源は非破壊核種分析に必要な光源である。ERL-LCS光源による光子生成実証のために、cERLの回収ループにレーザーエンハンスメント共振器を設置した。電子ビームエネルギー,レーザー波長,衝突角はそれぞれ、20MeV, 1064nm, 18$$^{circ}$$である。LCS光子の最大エネルギーは約7keVである。感度領域17mm$$^{2}$$のシリコンドリフト検出器を衝突点から16.6mの位置でのLCS光子の観測に用いた。その計測の結果、検出器での強度、中心エネルギー、エネルギー広がりはそれぞれ、1200/s, 6.91keV, 81eVであった。

X線自由電子レーザーを利用することで、レーザーによって整列したI$$_{2}$$分子からのX線光電子回折(XPD)パターンを観測した。X線自由電子レーザーの偏光方向に整列したI$$_{2}$$分子のXPDは我々の理論計算とよく一致した。さらに、実験で得られるXPDを分子構造決定に利用する際の適応基準を提案した。

時間分解反射率測定法を用いて透明高分子のフェムト秒レーザーアブレーションダイナミクスを追ったところ、アブレーション閾値以上の強度のポンプ光入射後に反射率の振動を観測した。本振動は試料表面と、非熱効果によって試料から剥離した薄膜において反射したプローブ光の干渉によるものであると結論付けた。

等核二原子分子の同位体分子の2成分混合物に対する、フェムト秒パルス列による分子整列を用いた同位体選択的イオン化を提案する。質量数$$alpha$$および$$beta$$の原子核2つからなる等核二原子分子の同位体分子に対し、パルスの時間間隔をT$$_{com}$$ = $$beta$$ T($$alpha$$) = $$alpha$$ T($$beta$$)、[T($$alpha$$)およびT($$beta$$)は回転周期]とすると、2つの同位体分子の分子整列が同時に成立する。窒素の同位体分子($$^{14}$$N$$_{2}$$および$$^{15}$$N$$_{2}$$)に対して実証実験を行い、最後のフェムト秒パルスからT$$_{com}$$/2後の直前には$$^{14}$$N$$_{2}$$が整列、$$^{15}$$N$$_{2}$$が反整列し、T$$_{com}$$/2の直後にはその反対の状態が生成した。そのタイミングでもう1パルス、フェムト秒パルスを照射し、各同位体分子を非共鳴多光子イオン化した。イオン収量比I($$^{15}$$N$$_{2}$$$$^{+}$$)/I($$^{14}$$N$$_{2}$$$$^{+}$$)が0.49-2.00まで変化し、以前の1パルスによる分子整列を用いた結果より変動幅が大きくなった。

強レーザー場によって励起された石英の時間分解反射分光に基づいた真空紫外パルス計測法を提案し、実証している。プラズマミラーを超高速スイッチとして用いて、周波数分解光ゲート測定が可能である。主成分一般化射影アルゴリズムを改良して、真空紫外波形の再構築を行うことができた。同時にプラズマミラー反射率の時間依存性も再構築可能である。

We theoretically propose a new control scheme of temporal wave-packet separation for oriented molecules, based on nonresonant dynamic Stark effect (DSE) in the dipole limit. In the scheme linearly-polarized single-cycle THz pulses are employed as control fields. In this work the proposed scheme is applied to the temporal wave-packet separation of the binary mixture of alkali halide isotopologues, $$^{133}$$CsI and $$^{135}$$CsI. We assume that before applying the control pulse one of the isotopologues is oriented along the field polarization direction and the other along the opposite direction and then they are electronically excited from the ground-state PEC to the excited-state counterpart. Numerical wave-packet propagations reveal that a THz pulse yields a temporal wave-packet separation of about 2 ps between the two isotopologue photodissociations.

フェムト秒レーザーアブレーションされた石英の時間分解反射率測定を行ったところ、波長795nmのプローブ光に対しては63ps, 398nmの光に対してはその半分の周期の振動を得た。われわれは、その振動はスパレーションによって剥離した膜と試料母体表面において反射した光の正負干渉によるものであると結論付けた。

レーザー分子配列及び非共鳴多光子イオン化の異方性を利用したレーザー同位体分離をN$$_{2}$$分子の同位体混合ガスに対して行った。真空チャンバー内で直線偏光・短パルスレーザー($$lambda$$$$sim$$795nm, $$Delta$$$$tau$$$$sim$$60fs)を$$^{14}$$N$$_{2}$$と$$^{15}$$N$$_{2}$$の混合ガスに対して照射し、回転コヒーレンス状態を生成する。その後、一方の同位体分子の軸が揃う時刻に、再度、直線偏光・短パルスレーザー光($$lambda$$$$sim$$795nm, $$Delta$$$$tau$$$$sim$$60fs)を照射することで、同位体選択的にイオン化した。各同位体のイオン生成量を2つのパルス間の遅延時間を走査しながら測定した結果、その比が0.85$$sim$$1.22と変化した。

エタノールから生成した光電子と生成イオンを同時計測することによって、400nm, 96fs, 1.3-18TW/cm$$^{2}$$のレーザーパルス中にて起こるイオン化とその後の電子励起を分離して調べることができた。イオン化によって電子励起状態に生成するイオン化の分岐比は、レーザー強度の増加とともに減少した。一方、その後の電子励起は共鳴イオン化によって増大する。イオン化と電子励起の機構をエタノールカチオンの電子状態分布をもとに明らかにした。

高強度場物質科学研究グループでは、超短パルス高強度レーザーと物質との相互作用により起こるイオン化や解離といった光反応や電子励起過程を制御して高効率な同位体分離や物質創製技術の開発へ繋げるため、電子ダイナミクスの直接観測や光電子,解離イオンといった多粒子間のコヒーレント相関の解明,コヒーレントフォノン生成過程などの研究を実験及び理論の両面から進めている。本シンポジウムでは、今までの研究成果の紹介と、それを踏まえた今後の研究計画について紹介する。

$$^{13}$$C-selective infrared multiple photon dissociation of $$beta$$-propiolactone by a free electron laser

The irradiation of a free electron laser at Tokyo University of Science (FEL-TUS) to $$beta$$-propiolactone molecules in the gas phase has efficiently induced the infrared multiple photon dissociation of the compound in the wavenumber regions of 1000$$sim$$1100 cm$$^{-1}$$ and 1700$$sim$$2000 cm$$^{-1}$$. The products were carbon dioxide and ethylene at equal amounts, where carbon dioxide was enriched with $$^{13}$$C under selected irradiation conditions. The relative yields of products and the selectivity of $$^{13}$$C were examined under various experimental conditions; the maximum $$^{13}$$C atom fraction of 59 % was achieved when 2.5 Torr $$beta$$-propiolactone was irradiated by FEL pulses at 1750 cm$$^{-1}$$ with a fluence of 5.8 J cm$$^{-2}$$.
