Sm SR-based Mssbauer and muon spin relaxation (SR) spectroscopies have been applied to SmRuGe. The temperature dependence of the Sm SR-based Mssbauer spectra in the paramagnetic state implies the presence of dynamical nuclear Zeeman and/or quadrupole interactions. The time differential SR spectra also exhibit a marked temperature dependence in the paramagnetic state, indicating the presence of magnetic fluctuation in SmRuGe at least. These results in the present work infer that the dynamical hyperfine interactions observed using the mutually complementary spectroscopic methods are connected with the mechanism of the heavy fermion behavior in SmRuGe.

Sm synchrotron-radiation-based Mssbauer spectroscopy has been applied to Sm-based heavy fermion intermetallics, SmAl ( = Ti, V and Cr) and SmOsSb. The isomer shifts obtained demonstrate that the Sm valence states in these compounds are intermediate. Since the difference of the isomer shifts in 22.502 keV Sm Mssbauer effect between Sm and Sm state is comparable to the 2nd order Doppler shift, consideration of the 2nd order Doppler shift is required to precisely discuss Sm valence state through the shifts of the Mssbauer spectra. In addition, the plots of the isomer shifts obtained by the Mssbauer spectroscopy against the Sm valence states estimated from Sm L-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy exhibit a linear correlation except for that in SmOsSb. This implies that the origin of the intermediate valence state in SmOsSb differs from that in SmAl ( = Ti, V and Cr).

In spite of the difference of the local structure around the Sm sites, the observed Mssbauer spectra consist of a single line at 300 K. On the other hand, Sm L-edge X-ray absorption spectra consist of two components, suggesting Sm and Sm states. Difference of the number of the spectral components between the Mssbauer spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy is caused by the difference of the time window in the scattering process of these measurements. Correlation between the isomer shifts in the Mssbauer spectroscopy and average Sm valence states estimated from the X-ray absorption spectroscopy exhibits a linear correlation.

Given its importance in many cell processes, various experimental and computational methods have been developed to measure the membrane viscosity, yet the estimated values depend highly on the method and vary by orders of magnitude. Here we investigate the molecular origins of membrane viscosity by measuring the nanoscale dynamics of the lipid acyl tails using X-ray and neutron spectroscopy techniques. The results show that the membrane viscosity can be estimated from the structural relaxation times of the lipid tails.

Muonium is the most suitable system to test QED because both theoretical and experimental values can be precisely determined. Previous measurements were performed decades ago at LAMPF with uncertainties mostly dominated by statistical errors. At the J-PARC Muon Science Facility (MUSE), the MuSEUM collaboration is planning complementary measurements of muonium HFS both at zero and high magnetic field. The new high-intensity muon beam that will soon be available at H-Line will provide an opportunity to improve the precision of these measurements by one order of magnitude. An overview of the different aspects of these new muonium HFS measurements, the current status of the preparation for high-field measurements, and the latest results at zero field are presented.

被引用回数:6 パーセンタイル:28.27(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)新規超伝導物質の発現機構を解明するためには磁性と超伝導性の関係を理解することが重要である。我々は鉄ヒ素超伝導体の一つであるEuFeAsに対してFe核共鳴前方散乱(NFS)を用い、2.4から3.0GPaの圧力範囲で、Fe副格子での反強磁性と超伝導の共存を発見した。Fe副格子の磁性状態は2.7GPaでストライプ型反強磁性から超伝導を伴う新しい反強磁性秩序へと変化した。超伝導転移温度以下で、超伝導とともに新しい反強磁性が発展しているのが、NFSの温度依存性から明らかになった。この2種類の秩序の非自明な相関は鉄系超伝導体における磁性と超伝導の新しく興味深い関係性を証明するものである。

To obtain Mssbauer spectra of the nanoparticles without 61-Ni enrichment, we developed a measurement system for Ni SR Mssbauer absorption spectroscopy without X-ray windows between the standard energy alloy and detector. The counting rate of the Ni nuclear resonant scattering in the system was enhanced by the detection of internal conversion electrons and the close proximity between the energy standard and the detector. The spectrum measured at 4 K revealed the internal magnetic field of the nanoparticles was 3.4 T, corresponding to a Ni atomic magnetic moment of 0.3 Bohr magneton. This differs from the value of NiC and the theoretically predicted value of hexagonal closed packed Ni and suggested the nanoparticle possessed intermediate carbon content between hcp-Ni and NiC of approximately 10 atomic percent of Ni.

A Mssbauer probe layer of Fe(0.2 nm), Fe(0.6 nm), or Sn(0.6 nm) was embedded as an electron spin detector near the surfaces of V, Au, Pt, and Fe wires. The magnitudes of the magnetic hyperfine fields at the Fe and Sn nuclear sites that could be enhanced by nonequilibrium conduction electron spin polarization were measured both without and with the application of an electric current along the wire. Changes in the Mssbauer spectra were not clearly observed, indicating that the magnetic hyperfine field induced by nonequilibrium spin polarization is smaller than the detection limit at least for the measured systems and conditions.

The Si-APD linear array consists of 64 pixels each 0.010.02 cm in size, with a pixel pitch of 0.015 cm and depletion depth of 0.001 cm. The fast electronics, consisting of an ultrafast application-specific integrated circuit and field-programmable gate arrays, can record both the position and timing of X-rays arriving at each pixel of the linear array with 1 ns pulse-pair resolution. The count distribution was measured using 14.4 keV synchrotron X-rays for nuclear resonant forward scattering experiments on Fe, and the spatial resolution was improved by inclining the detector. We also successfully measured amorphous alloy FeSiB during heating.

The Si-APD linear array consists of 64 pixels (pixel size: 0,010.02 cm) with a pixel pitch of 0.015 cm and depletion depth of 0.001 cm. An ultrafast frontend circuit allows the X-ray detector to obtain a high output. High-performance integrated circuits achieve multichannel scaling over 1024 continuous time bins with a 1 ns resolution for each pixel without dead time. The multichannel scaling method enabled us to record a time spectrum of the 14.4 keV nuclear radiation at each pixel with a time resolution of 1.4 ns (FWHM). This method was successfully applied to nuclear forward scattering and nuclear small-angle scattering on Fe.

The hyper fine field of Te in the antiferromagnetic phase of FeTe was evaluated to be 4(1) T at 20 K, and this hyper fine field is considered to be due to the transferred hyper fine field from Fe magnetic moments. The evaluated hyper fine field was comparatively large, suggesting the strong correlation with the magnetic moment of Fe that forms double stripe type magnetic structure. For the superconductor FeTeSe, no marked change in its Mssbauer parameters was observed below or above the superconducting transition temperature, indicating that the change in the electronic state of Te was small.

被引用回数:21 パーセンタイル:63.92(Physics, Applied)本研究では、核共鳴吸収に伴うX線と電子を同時に検出できる検出器を備えた装置を世界に先駆けて開発し、その装置と大型放射光施設SPring-8の大強度X線を用いて、YbBに含まれるYbの放射光メスバウアースペクトルを測定することに成功した。今後、さまざまな元素の放射光メスバウアー測定が可能になり、レアアース磁石などの磁石材料や錯体・触媒材料・エレクトロニクス材料といった機能性材料の研究に進展がもたらされることが期待できる。本研究の一部は科学研究費補助金・基盤研究S「同位体特定による局所状態解明のための先進的メスバウアー分光法開発」及び研究スタート支援「放射光を用いたネオジム核共鳴散乱法の開発」の補助を受け、SPring-8の利用課題として行われた。

被引用回数:10 パーセンタイル:42.20(Physics, Condensed Matter)銅酸化物に次いで高い超伝導転移温度を示す鉄系超伝導体の転位温度は、その結晶構造の変化に敏感であることが知られている。本論文では、圧力により結晶構造を変化させ、それに伴う電子状態,格子振動,超伝導性の変化をSPring-8で観測した。その結果、As-Asの混成が超伝導発現に深く関与することを発見した。なお、実験結果の解析にあたっては数値シミュレーションによる格子振動との比較が重要な役割を果たした。得られた知見をもとに、鉄系超伝導体の超伝導発現機構の解明に貢献する一方、広く物質材料の構造と機能との関係解明に寄与することが期待される。

被引用回数:9 パーセンタイル:38.20(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)高い超伝導転移温度を示す鉄系超伝導体の母物質は、低温で反強磁性秩序相への転移とともに、正方晶から斜方晶への構造相転移を起こすことが知られている。このような構造相転移の原因を探るには格子振動が有力な手がかりとなる。そこで本研究では、SPring-8のビームラインを用いた核共鳴非弾性散乱によって、結晶中での鉄原子の格子振動を測定し、構造相転移との関係を調査した。さらに、第一原理計算によって格子振動を推算し、比較することによって、測定結果の解析を行った。結果として、構造相転移の付近で不連続な格子振動の変化は観測されず、構造相転移より高い温度から転移温度に向けて、徐々に変化していく様子が観測された。この結果から、構造相転移より高い温度のときから正方晶の中で斜方晶の揺らぎが存在していると結論することができる。この発見は、鉄系超伝導の超伝導発現機構の解明に向けて重要な知見を与えたと言える一方、原子力分野の材料研究の高度化に資する技術開発に繋がる成果でもある。

被引用回数:30 パーセンタイル:77.72(Physics, Multidisciplinary)1万気圧を超える高い水素圧力に晒されたユーロピウム水素化物の結晶構造と原子の価数状態を観測し、それらの変化を捉えることに成功した。その結果、従来知られている2水素化物よりも水素濃度が高く、ユーロピウムの価数が+3価で、面心立方金属格子を持つ結晶構造相が出現すること、すなわちユーロピウム水素化物も従来の水素化物の構造則に従うことが確認された。これによって、すべての希土類金属水素化物に共通する、水素濃度によってとりうる結晶構造の一般則が確立された。

The organic-inorganic perovskite scintillator of phenethylamine lead halide ((CHCHNH)PbX) (X:Br, I) was used. These compounds have fast light emission due to an exciton. They include heavy atoms, which make the detector to have high efficiency to high energy X-rays. The merit of these scintillators is that we can make a thick crystal compared to a Si wafer which is used in an avalanche photo-diode detector. We successfully measured 67.41 keV X-ray signals, the energy of Ni nuclear resonant scattering, with high detection efficiency of 42.5% by the scintillator.

被引用回数:58 パーセンタイル:87.91(Physics, Multidisciplinary)放射光を用いてメスバウアー吸収スペクトルを測定する新しい方法を開発した。この方法は、同位体線源を用いた従来の手法では困難な核種等、ほとんどのメスバウアー核種に対して利用可能である。この方法を用いて、同位体線源では不可能なGe核種の68.752keVの励起準位を利用したメスバウアースペクトルを観測することに成功した。この結果は、本方法によって放射光の優れた特徴を生かした先進的メスバウアー測定が可能になることを示すものである。
