PTFE成形粉末への放射線照射効果

Radiation effects on PTFE moulding powder

圧縮成型前にポリ4弗化エチレン粉末(PTFE)を$$gamma$$線で照射し、その機械的強度変化を調べた。照射により、PTFEの引張強度は変わらないが、引き裂き強度と伸びは4倍になった。また、窒素及び酸素ガスの透過は低下した。これらの結果から、PTFE粉末への照射は、成形粉末への応用に有効であることがわかった。

Change of mecahnical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) were examined by means of $$gamma$$ irradiation of the moulding powder prior to compression moulding. Share strength and elongation of PTFE incresed 4 times with incresing of the radiation dose, whereas tensile strength maintained inrinsic value. Gas transmission rate of nitrogen and oxygen were also considerably controlled to lower value. These results suggest that the irradiation effect on PTFE mouling powder are useful for industrial applications.
